Dylan Grimes JDM

Given how few games he's played and so few in a row - statements on Grimes ability atm are pretty ridiculous.

I'm more interested in seeing if he can actually play out a season of AFL.
Me too. Grimes really needs games, only then can we really tell if he's still got what he had that excited us before the injuries. It would also help if he was playing in a settled back line with a fit Alex Rance, a fit Steve Morris and an in form Chaplin.

Very balanced I agree. Would like him to take the game on a little bit more.

An interesting case Grimesy. With Astbury's form, Chaplin's pedigree and Rance returning from injury he looks likely to make way. However on form you'd say Chaplin should be the one who is dropped. Interesting conundrum for the coaches/match committee. We've paid the big bucks to Chaplin and he's flattered to deceive. Couple that with Astbury being able to play on the big gorilla forwards and Chappy should be right in the gun.

Massively. You'd think he was the next Bruce Doull.

I trust my eyes more than the words of others. Yes he has the potential to become our BD! Needs confidence to return in his body.

Jack Grimes was a very promising young footballer, maybe a captain of his club. He succumbed to injury in his youth and has since fought back. He was destined for a senior midfield role but many years later is still fighting for one. Injury in his youth robbed him of athleticism.

Eric Leech was a bit like that. Could not get on the park.

Dyilan Grimes, *smile* the stats, was the quickest Richmond player on the park. He could get air, had awesome judgement and he is fearless.

If Dylan Grimes doesn't recover his football future from his injuries I can't see a reason to party.

Getting better every week from a low 2014 base. (Watch him sprint in a foot race - his pace is back.)

Once every 5,000 posts I have to say it - I'm pretty sure Dylan Grimes plays for Richmond. Carlton can enjoy pissing on his bones.

Nothing wrong with the Grub that an injury free year of footy won't fix. Spent way more of his career so far in rehab than on the field. If his body can stay sound, then the timing n composure will come back with game time.

You don't drop him if he isn't injured. He plays and his next contract lives or dies on whether he can avoid another breakdown.

Yeah the more he plays the better he gets , but the more he plays the closer he gets to breaking again ,

Fingers crossed not this time .

Here here Dyer'ere.

If this boy can get fit and get continuity in his football he will be a very very good Richmond player. I for one have no interest in bagging his form at the moment (it's not great btw) , my interest and hope is that he can get through a season of consistent injury free footy because I suspect that's what he needs to get real confidence on the field.

Tend to agree Dyer'ere but the question remains, will he get the consistent run of games he requires? Astbury is now looking like our most reliable defender, with Rance a close second when fit again. That means Grimesy is in competition with Chaplin for a spot, who is well renumerated and undoubtedly out of form. Interesting selection conundrum coming up for Beavis. I wouldn't be opposed to sending Chaplin for a spell in the magoos.

He may have to play in the 2nds but he if he plays every week it's still a positive. I suspect the club doesn't need to be convinced Dylan can play footy at the AFL level , they need to be convinced his body is up to playing footy week in week out.

Grimes is getting a regular guernsey but his stats say he should not . How long does he get ?. Opposition teams must rub their hands with glee when he lines up against them. It is not the future it is now .

Grimes is in an unfortunate position.

1. He doesn't have the strength to regularly take on opposition key forwards.

2. He doesn't have the rebounding talent to play as a flanker.

3. His kicking is not long, which makes him less of an effective rebounder.

This means that he's either playing a part-time negating role on either opposition medium or key forwards.
Sort of a slightly taller Duncan Kellaway.

Desperately needs to build some strength into both his body and his kicking.

massive fan of grimes. has urgency, closing speed, composure and good kicking skills. needs to remain injury free and will be one of our best players. keeper.

agree :thumbsup

Dimma keeps talking up stats but when you look at Grimes stats Dimma must skip that page. Herald Sun Dream team stats have his average at 33. The maligned Zac Dawson's average is 48. Grimes is dragging the chain & it is time to stow him away in the cable locker.

Great point.

Those dreamteam stats are bloody damning. I am amazed we play any players with a Dreamteam/Supercoach average of less than 50. It's a fair dinkum joke.

Cotch and Dusty need to lift their games too SC averages of less then 100? It's extremely poor. I hope Dimma confronted Cotch about his 68 SC last week. What about those poor souls who had him as their captain?
