13 spoils and easily our best defender last night
And some of those spoils were at full stretch and full speed and where it just didn't look like he could possible get to the ball.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

Great game by grimer... has to be AA defender this year. Best back pocket going around.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

It’s often forgotten how important his finals series was last year. Greene in the prelim and Betts in the grand final. Those jobs were massive

Love him. How he is not spoken about as AA is beyond me.

Reckon the numpties that pick the AA these days just go through the stat sheets and Grimesy doesn't have a high enough 'kick avg' to get a gig.

While it would be great for him to get the deserved recognition, at least he doesn't seem to give a toss.

Grimey accelerates into a collision like no one on our list bar the skipper. He's a champion. Legit.

So this. Our Dale Morris. Should be All Australian.

Moment of the match Grimesy coming off his man and confronting McDonald-Tipungwuti winning the contest and resulting in goal, sensational closing speed and courage.

Spot on. That was absolutely breath taking.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

I reckon Grimes makes FJ's top 5 greatest picks. Picking guys like Cotch & Dusty are easy money, it's grabbing premiership players with junk picks that sorts the men from the boys. Our processes for that PSD were also bang on, Grimes was competing with 3 or 4 others on the training track & eventually took the prize. This was the beginning of outstanding due-diligence, about time after the low ebb we had hit with Oakley-Nicholls & Richard Tambling.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

Been great.
Reckon his just shifted into “god mode”
Unbeatable

Media too busy extolling the likes of Tom Stewart and McGrath
and Jetta. Pfffttt to all of them. All hail The Grub, ala Optimus Grimes. He hits em hard and fair. That bump on Waller made him think twice for the rest of the game.

I can still see and hear the bump on Himmelberg in the Prelim last year. Gee that was full on and not far away from me. Getting close to my favourite player.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

Love that Grimesy also bleeds yellow and black. Just need to hear his speeches at the B&F last year to know that he'll never leave Richmond, even if he gets a ridiculous #lolNorf type offer.

Absolutely right on both counts there.
Grimes is just a great player and team mate to have alongside in the heat of battle.
Mr Reliable/Mr Dependable, let's just get the job done without mercy sort of attitude.
Love his quiet confidence, hardness at the footy and what he brings to the team.

Fantastic to see him named in the AA squad of 40. Recognition of his best & a truly superb season. Hopefully makes the final cut.

Should be the first one picked, he will be on the HB line on wedezdey night, other wise the AA committee should all resign.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

The new Dale Morris. It's the perfect passing of the guard.

Stocked for him. As hard a footballer to wear the yellow and black as there has been in a long time.

Speeds up when he knows there will be contact. Put me in a foxhole with this bloke and I walk taller.
