Dylan Grimes JDM

In all likely hood, Grimes will miss 1 and a half games and the punishment is 2 games. The Saints got a big advantage from this violence even though the game was over.
The AFL will be encouraging this kind of act if it does not appeal.

How can the club fire up and take on the AFL and show real muscle comradery on the field in letting the opposition know you hit one of ours and you will be hit back; when the club is ruled over by Ms. Peggy and our CEO who is more concerned about the cut of his suits rather than the cuts over our players faces!!!!

Throw in our distinctly indistinctly, one dimensional coach and nothing much is going to change until they are changed. As it is the AFL is very pleased with the passive, politically and socially correct Tigers, while I’m far less so. As fragile as a carton of a dozen eggs are the Tigers and have been for far too many years!!!!! It makes me sick to the stomach.

....

I was just thinking how noticeable it was that when we were winning no one was taking aim at the Prez. Then BANG! somehow someone finds a way to blame her for a dog act and the insipid response by the players at the time? SMH. :don't know

Pfft, head high contact crackdown was sooo last week.

MRP will give him 2 weeks. Probably down to 1 if he pleads guilty.
Boom!

Told ya. There was just no media focus and the Gil "The Head is Sacrosanct " has moved on to ....other matters.

What a frekken disgrace. 2 weeks for nearly breaking a players face.
Membrey had plenty of time to choose another option.
Show that one to the mums making a decision as to what sport junior will play.

Why is it only the mums?

I’m talking about a culture of rolling over and letting the AFL and other clubs walk all over you.

I’m talking about the pathetic response by his team mates to Grimes being poleaxed and laying on the ground down and out. I’m talking about the fact that for years the RFC has pursued a road of passive, AFL compliance as touted by an innocuous president and a self-centered CEO.

I’m also talking about the self-effacing responses by a supporter like you!!!

Interesting that Martin gets a fine for a playful two-finger salute to the Collingwood cheer squad, but no action on Oliver saying "I'll *smile* kill you" to a spectator. More unequal treatment.

Hope this affair scandal at head office blows up in their faces.

Yeah the two finger salute seems to draw more attention than other crowd interactions. Wasn't Nathan Brown fined for something similar when he was at the Dogs?

2 weeks was fine. Everyone is up in arms these days for every incident and wants players suspended for weeks on end. Incidents like Bugg, 100%, throw the book at them, but these in play incidents you have to have some level of discretion. Grimes was backing into a pack, Membrey was jumping forward, yeah his arm went out and collected Grimesy, which is why it deserves two, but most guys are going to try and protect themselves a little when in the air and unbalanced like that. I hate the way everything is dissected these days in ultra slow motion. It always makes things intentional wise look worse than it was.

I also hate this mum argument. Footy is a tough sport. You get injured. Incidental contact happens. If it concerns you as a mother then don't let your son play footy. Pretty simple. I know many parents of kids playing footy and everyone is comfortable at junior level with the rules in place.

This would have been a good post in 1978.

I'll remind you of this next time Richmond gets rogered by the MRP.

No it's a valid post now. Do you have kids playing AFL footy? Do you speak to other parents. You make stuff up as if it is gospel. MRP gave the guy two weeks. Absolutely correct decision. Move on.

I think it makes Bartel look like an even bigger dill by coming out on radio and claiming Houli got off litely, then the next week goes lite on memory.

There is no place for the tribunal panel on the media, full step. You don't see judges do it.

Another afl farce and amateur hour.

I get your feelings on OTT reactions but how is an elbow to the face worthy of 2 weeks?

Do whatever you like. Whilst others were carrying on about Houli deserving the death penalty, I thought it was 2 weeks. Which is exactly what he was given initially until the AFL stepped in due to media hype and then supporters jumping jumping on the bandwagon. The whining and complaining on every MRP decision is ridiculous these days. Go to Facebook and check it out. Go and play lawn bowls if you don't want to risk getting hurt. I play footy, get hit accidentally in the head every week, cause that's what happens in AFL footy, and this is SLOW footy. Only way to prevent it is to change the game of AFL footy into something it's not. Many don't seem to understand the speed of footy these days, and the split second decisions players have to make, is not always going to come out smelling of roses. Unavoidable contact, finely dissected by slow mo camera. Then everyone claims mongrel, dirty player. What a crock. Do we really expect players to pull up AFL 9s style everytime there's a hint of possible contact? No, the same complaining whiners would call the player weak for pulling out of the contest. The MRP has a better grip than many of you keyboard warriors here.

It's all about intent. You try jumping like that and see where your elbow is. Yeah he put it out, and should have tried to keep it in, but it's not intentional to whack the guy in the face. Why can't we accept the panels decision? They say two weeks based on integral analysis of the incident. That was my guess at the time of the incident and watching it in slow motion. And I agree with it.
