Never bought a house then in a sellers mkt.

If we want dusty we will have to up our bid. And to say he is only one player is utter crap - he does the work of at least 2 good players - maybe three average players.

Replace him in the side last week with another player - perhaps either Miles or Lennon then I reckon the result would have been to close for comfort.

Nope. Haven't bought a house full stop. But even the sane people in that market advise buyers to only pay what they are prepared to pay and be willing to walk away. If interest rates ever rise, those that paid over the odds might find themselves in a spot of bother. The crying won't stop for decades if that happens.

And he is only one player. For you to say he does the work of two or three others simply highlights what the real issue is. A lack of depth.

You tell me who will a game of Football, a team of average or slightly above average players or a team of below average players with one champion? How well did the Saints do all those years they had the games greatest goal kicker in their forward line?

All this fuss over one player. Nothing more than an unnecessary distraction too early in the season. And this is nothing against Dusty. Goes for any player.

You'll never keep your best players if this is your attitude. It's also up to the club to make a realistic market offer. I'm confident Martin will stay but only if the offer is market competitive (not matching but within reasonable range of what other teams are prepared to offer).

And that's fine with me. I also think they should make a realistic market offer but I don't think they should pay anymore than that either. If other clubs want to make excessive offers that Richmond is not prepared to match and we let him go, I'm not going to criticize the club for that either.

If Dusty keeps playing the way the played against the blues there is a massive incentive NOT to sign him now, and to wait till the end of the season.

Players play their best in their contract year, and dusty kicking 4 goals and 35 possessions each week gets us in the top 4.

Let him drive his price up.

Whatever happens he stays or leaves, everyone is a winner

All 18 clubs will be talking to Dusty's manager make no mistake about that.

This will be a good test of his character.

Richmond have and will look after the lad on and off the field. We will end up offering something around the million dollars a season mark so money should not be the deciding factor.

Some times you have to pay overs to get what you want. Look at the doggies pitch for BYOD - at the time everyone thought it was way overs but that's not the view now given they have a premiers medal in the bag.

If we are serious about a flag tilt any time in the next 5 years then we need Dusty to be part of our team - in my humble view only.

Also didn't mean to direct the house buying question at you personally - it was meant to be more a rhetoric question

Of course I don't really know but when I see Dusty play for Richmond I see a guy who really loves the club and his teamates. To be honest apart from Jack I don't think anyone plays more for the jumper than Dusty.

In the end it's just a personal opinion and it's hard to judge from the outside but he just seems to love playing footy for Richmond

What's an excessive offer though? Open to interpretation. Usually an excessive offer that is far north of what anyone else is offering. I can see a lot of interest in Martin so I can't see that being the case. From what I've read the general consensus is Martin will not leave for the highest offer, but the Tigers offer has to be competitive and also may depend on the on-field success of the club this year.

A big game against mediocre opposition. Let's see him pants Dangerfield and S Mitchell before we get too excited and offer him the family farm.

Id offer him the family farm. Change its name to Dusty's Farm.

According to Greg Denham he is staying.

Deal is being sorted through.

And according to Wayne Carey and Tim Watson he's leaving. Guess we need to get used to this speculation throughout the season.

If Timmy says he's leaving then it's nearly a certainty he's staying
