Sensible take on Dusty and so-called media commitments by Jonathan Horn at the Guardian.
They don't write a lot about AFL but I'll take their quality over any quantity of other media anytime.

It's a good article. I heard Watson trot out the obligation to the game line, too. His obligation to the game is to go out there and play the best that he can. He's done that for nearly 300 games. I don't really want to hear some sound bite interview from Dustin. I want to see him do what he did on Saturday night.

If Dusty wanted to be traded, we would trade him. He owes us nothing.

What he wouldn't do is retire and then go to the PSD.

I don't think he'll go anywhere.

The eyes of the shark is such a good call. I remember - because it stood out so much - the pure joy and elation on Dusty's face after he kicked the last goal of the 2017 grand final. He hugged a couple of blokes and spun in the embrace. He looked like a kid. For two seconds. Then he turned away from camera and when he turned back: shark eyes. It was striking.

These media losers want him to leave. It's a story. It's several stories. They've already written in their minds the "Richmond must look wistfully north as its great champion and former coach are flying while the Tigers struggle" intros.

They see Dusty leaving as diluting his legacy with us. That if he left, his retirement and associated hoopla would come as a Sun, or as a member of the team they barrack for. Less gloss and income for Richmond, and another chance to kick us.

Dusty can do what he likes. I hope he plays on, with us. A full side next year and he can first-hand show our kids what finals footy's about.

*smile* them, Dustin.

Rest him for the Crows game.

Id rather trhe Crows get the 4 points and a percentage boost rather than the Cats.

I love this description of Dusty by Gale

“Brendon Gale told Marshall in his book Yellow and Black. “You look at images of footballers and you know how they’ve got that startled, panicked look? You look at Dustin’s eyes in those moments and they reveal nothing. He’s like a shark. Like a great white, just cruising through the water. And then he strikes.”

That’s the Dustin Martin I’ll always remember. That’s him holding up his end of the bargain. Those eyes, that voice, that moment he goes for the kill – the Dusty that says more than any interview or press conference ever could.”

Pure magic with words.
