Not actually retire but say farewell to the Tigers , rest up & get himself right then head north to join Hardwick at the suns next season he reckons as well.
So Fev is saying Dusty will retire and then magically appear as a Sun? How? Through the draft?

A little disturbing. It is exactly what Hardwick did himself, and as I understand it, it mirrors the earlier move by the former gun hawk Luke Hodge to Brisbane, and would result in no compensation to Richmond?

even if so, how does he get to Cold Coke?
A new rapidly implemented Coach Player rule.

Only players whoive played in a premiership with a coach can be picked up by that coach at another club without interference from other clubs nor needing a draft pick to obtain the player.

Bang Dusty to Goldie and then the rule is scrapped the following week :mhihi

Not sure I only saw them replaying what Fev said on 360 !

First thing I thought of was it’s exactly what Hardwick did.

I’m not sure, if we kept him on the list would mean they either trade for him or get him as a delisted free agent afterwards

Pretty sure Liam Jones did it.
He did, but somewhat different circumstances. Liam Jones was signed as an unrestricted free agent and the Brown paper bags were compensated with a third round pick despite him retiring and playing the entire season in the qafl due to not taking the jab.

How did Hodge do it when he retired at Hawthorn and bobbed up at Brisbane with the Old Codger 5 minutes later?
"Hawthorn Football Club has today received picks 43 and 75 in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft from the Brisbane Lions in exchange for Luke Hodge and pick 44."

I think the better example would be Mal Michael. Retired in Oct 2006 while at Brisbane. relocated to Melbourne and then 7 weeks later joined Essenbong, playing 2 seasons with them.

Michael had a contract i reckon and the Lions delisted him cos he retired. That was dodgy and they brought in rules to stop it happening. Not sure how tho!

Regardless, Dusty would still be a FA so can sign with whoever he wants when the season ends.

If he is walking. Hope not.
He should miss this week, go to SA for 299 then back on the G for 300.

Would hate for his second last game of footy ever to be at that shiithole (and prob a beating).

*smile* AFL.
Will do anything to please the Salty one.

Have even botched his 300 with this fixturing genius.

Also effects our forward line.
Next 2 matches no $hai and one of those matches no Dusty either.

*smile* AFL.

Thanks Toothy.
Don’t think he will do it myself. If it were to happen, to follow in Dimma’s footsteps in this manner will leave a lot of us very disappointed and in a major way, it would also screw up his legacy.

I’ve always felt that Dusty will play his whole career with the Tigers. I received very good mail from a contact I have close to the suns that their interest was completely overblown, they are heading in a direction which Dusty doesn’t really fit into. That was pre the 2024 season.
Wayne Campbell is on record as saying he expected Dusty to play out his career at the Tigers.
I have also always felt he would play into 2025 as well. Dusty is at his core a footballer, it is where he feels most comfortable. To me he is the sort of person who would play as long as he could.
None of that is fact, except it is fact that the mail I received was from someone very close to the coaching group at the suns. But even that is a few months ago.
My tip is that he stays and plays for us in 2025. It would be typical Dusty, doing the exact opposite to what the media nuffies expect.
