He was the best mid forward in the AFL in the 2nd half of the season for sure. If he had kicked straighter would have been a lock for AA.

The bias against him by the ‘experts’ on that panel meant that he would never get AA last year. It’s a media award now, and counts for 3 5ths of *smile* all.
The Dimma strategy of letting Dusty do whatever he wanted worked brilliantly in a great side. Not so much since the flag years.
Dusty had amazing team coverage in the Dimmasty. Lambert, Graham, Cotchin, Prestia and Edwards had roles that enabled his spectacular skills.
Will Yze allow him the same licence to control his game? Interesting to see.

One of Dimma's errors before he left was to replace our midst with the recruits from GWS.
It seemed all out mid guns were shuffled elsewhere. Bolton, Preston, Martin, Cotchin......
As much as Taranto and Hopper were recruited as mids, I think it was a big mistake to relegate our own minds to a place somewhere behind these guys.

I think the Jack Dyer got it right. Dusty was pretty average then came home with a wet sail despite inaccuracy.
If he still has it in him and starts well next year, get on him for the Brownlow around Round 4.
