Dustin Martin

Didn't Choco leave the RFC?

I was surprised but happy to see him riding shotgun right next to Mr Miyagi (oops Dusty :hihi).

I get the feeling as long as he is around Dusty will remain a Tiger.

I think Choco can take great credit as we see a maturing Dusty.
He is a calming influence on Dusty and even more so since his Dad was deported.

Yep, if it was Luke Hodge then the headlines would be 'Rude reporter verbally attacks Hodgey'

As McBurney runs in blowing his whistle shouting free kick hawthorn

what the hell? the press conference was effectively over and Martin DID answer a question about his future.
He didn't "storm off" at all. SEN haven't shut up about this all morning. What a joke.

Unresolved contract scenarios are fodder for the media circus. Unfortunately the circus will continue the longer he remains unsigned.

What makes this worse for the club and Dusty is that the media also love an easy target. Last yr it was Choptsicks Gate and now Dusty's crime is not having signed a contract which is due to expire in Oct.

For goodness sake leave the boy alone........

Was Dusty in official Richmond clobber while spruiking Sherrin? If so I can understand the questioning. He's going to cop a lot of that until a decision is announced. The aftermath is pretty ordinary though. Talk about mountains out of molehills.

Just watched the interview again & one is of the impression Choco's response was the only response he could come out with " he's loyal ,luvs Punt Road ,luvs his teamates " . A standard call by a very professional football savvy Choco. Tigers put Dusty on the market a few years ago. Tigers dumped Choco (Balme call) last year which did not go over to well. Tigers do not have to many runs on the board with Dusty & Choco when you take those two factors into account. Tigers will have to get big runs on the board this year to retain Dusty.

I must pay more attention I missed when the club shopped Dusty around. Would be interested in some more information on that, thanks.

I think your attention span is fine brigadier, its whats known as fake news these days.
Ralph Carr shopped dusty around, at one of these shops, Dusty was asked who his football mentor is and his response was Damien Hardwick. He re-signed with Tigers.
We dont need to re-write history, the Tigers have been very good to and for Dustin Martin.

This diputes your theory somewhat.

That was 2 contract renewals ago, and the one everyone keeps talking about, especially the GWS trip where when he got that and was asked why he wanted to leave Richmond and his answer was "I don't".

The last contract extension was done without fanfare or public shopping around. As others have said, I reckon we'll see a few high profile players sign once the Players Association and AFL agree on terms.

This doesn't seem to be getting mentioned much. Why would any agent let his player sign a contract when the TPP environment may be just about to change? That would be massively negligent, surely.

It wouldn't be the percentage play, TJ.

Spot on. If the latest report was correct, there is a 15-20% increase in the TPP on the cards. Dusty would be insane to sign prior to that even though they can put contingencies into the contract to deal with the TPP increase.

Fact is he will sign a deal worth min $800k for 5 years meaning he has been on $500k + for the last 5 years...not bad earnings for a young fella who left school at age 15.

Shows what a boring station it is. How's the great Buzz? Trying to justify what journalism is all about.

No he wasn't.

Sen were taking Dusty side and having a go at the media except Sam MacLure who was taking the media's side and criticised Choco.

Yes I enjoyed it too.
Idiot saying he'd just keep asking Martin the question about his contract endlessly 'because people want to know' made him sound like a complete tool.
