Dustin Martin

the media are like seagulls after a chip. Dusty did the right thing and gave them nada. i reckon he'll stay btw, strikes me as a kind of loyal to the pack bloke.

Media like to insist that they run the circus.

Perhaps if there was a few more players picked up their marbles and walked out when the media insist on pushing their agendas, after they've already been told no a couple of times the bloody seagulls would get the message. No more chips, *smile* orf n don't come back.

I was listening to sen today which i rarely do, and what a disgrace. They ran with dusty "Stormed out", then went to one of their journo's that hose it down saying it was nothing, but continued to go with he "Stormed out" in their news breaks. Absolutely pathetic and will never listen to anything other that RRR or PBS again.

It appears Dusty is coping more criticism for today then Selwood has for speeding 27ks over the limit and losing a club sponsor

Good on 'ya Dusty, you've brought a smile to my face and taking me back a few years.

I remember in the late 70's when Ian Chappell publicly ragged out Kim Hughes appointment as Test Captain. At the next Test Match coin toss, instead of doing the mandatory interview, Hughes turned his back on Chappell and walked back to the dressing room leaving the arrogant pr!ck stranded like a goose in the middle of the pitch.

I reckon its about time in the AFL for coaches and players to stick it to the gutter trash media and start doing the same as Hughes and Dusty did ...walk away from the snivelling wimps and make them look stupid!

This.

The media complain about the same canned responses from players and coaches, but continue to repeatedly ask the same dumb question.

Dunno if Kim Hughes should be considered a good role model.
Wasn't the point that was being made.
As for Hughes captaincy, probably just meat to be chewed up n spat out during a crap period for Aussie cricket.

Can't recall that I saw or heard of Hughes leaving Chappelli standing during that time. But if he did, then he gains a notch in my ratings.

Far to often in all aspects of sport there's a bunch of former whizz bangs plus never ever were's that think they're entitled to just disrespect and dish out on the next generation coming through and steamroll their opinions or agendas through regardless of what the person they are dealing with says.

Dusty told the idiots more than once he wasn't discussing his contract situation, he was there to do a promo for Sherrin footies. That should be enough, leave the contract questions in the bin move onto what he's there for, it's pretty simple. I'm glad Dusty walked away from the idiots, they showed the standards they operate by when they then turned on him and hyperventilated that he'd stormed off. Certain areas of the media simply shouldn't be entitled to hold a bloody microphone, or draw breath.

What I oberved in this interview was a polite and friendly initial response to the contract question and then Dusty surprised by the rudeness of the jackals in the media. You don't sell papers with a headline. "Dusty politely declines contract talks", so you go with a dramatic beat-up.
By the way, nearly ran off the road coming home tonight when I heard the phrase "Dustin Martin has walked out" on the radio." Not funny!

Yeah, what is it with that?

Remember when Jay Schulz lost our sponsorship? The media treated him like he was the second coming of Judas, even though he was just a young kid at the time, clearly too immature to comprehend what had happened. This was followed by another round of harrumph, harrumph, how incompetent are Richmond? It could only happen to them. Snigger, snigger.

How many indiscretions have the TAC let Geelong get away with? Is it seven? Listening to the media, one would think that Selwood is now the patron saint of speeders, martyred unfairly by an unrealistic TAC. Poor Geelong.

Maddening.

BTW, good on Dusty. He answered the question, they asked him again, he lost interest and used his time productively, signing autographs for the kids.

Media, schmedia.

didn't a similar thing happen with Hardwick last year. Got asked a question, answered it. The media didn't like the answer so they asked him again and again, hoping to get a different answer. He had enough , walked out. Then it was reported he stormed out

Yep, watch it again and see how Choc says any more questions about the sherrin and there aren't any then someone (I think Choc) says "ok" and Dusty walks off.

Yep, if it was Luke Hodge then the headlines would be 'Rude reporter verbally attacks Hodgey'
