Dustin Martin

I could pretend I don't care and say the club is bigger but I would be a broken man to see dusty leave. I would find it hard to take and it would send me spiralling into a deep depression. He is a gun. Will be top 1 or 2 in league within two years.

Currently worth 800-900k
But one club will come with a super deal 1.2 over 6 years
And that will put tight ass dan in a spin.
Stkilda
Brisbane
Carlton
GC
And even freo will go hard for him if Fyfe ends up leaving

Lets get the best deal we can.

Agree. If he goes he goes, but the Ad Nauseum *smile* we'll hear every game from commentators will be to much.

Not interested in 2 top 10 picks. Not interested in low balling a true A grade superstar that can turn a game & win it off his own boot.
Dusty can be relied upon he doesnt miss games through injury and stands up when it counts.
Dusty is our own home grown BIG FISH! Why are we prepared to lose him?
If we lose Dusty do we then lose Rance or Riewoldt with all our stars jumping ship?
FFS none of this low ball nonsense
Were paying our midget $3.5Million over 5 years. Give Dusty $5Million over 5 years and sign him up

The AFL will probably change the compensation rules before the end of the year and we'll get nothing.

Usually how it works out for us.

Jeez I have a sick feeling about this too.

Let's test this. How many finals has he won off his own boot?

2013 http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_match_statistics?mid=5751
2014 http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_match_statistics?mid=5958
2015 http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_match_statistics?mid=6166

Not on his pat malone but not exactly outstanding in any final either. Compare his performances to Bontempelli for example.

I think Dusty is a very good player and arguably the best player in our team. However as I have argued where does he really stand in terms of overall AFL talent?
That's the true question we should be asking as to his worth.

Banging ya head against a brick wall year in year out is not happy jam no matter what you are earning. Strutting out on The G last Saturday in September, GF medallion around your neck & holding the Cup aloft is what counts. On stats Dusty will not achieve that at Tigerland in the foreseeable future . Dusty is going to offered big bucks & that will determine his future. No matter how much Tigers put up , the ante will go up till Tigers cannot match it. I still do think the Dees will end up with Dusty.

Not an unreasonable decision by Martin, there aren't many Richo's left in the game. There's a lot of uncertainty about the club at present, whether we need to go further backwards, who coaches if Dimma goes etc. He'd be mad to sign on for the next couple of years while in his prime if someone else is prepared to offer him a crack at a flag and a pay rise to go with it. On the other hand, we've been pretty good to him.

If we have another disastrous year we probably need to hit the draft hard anyway. Could be win-win if he walks.

Everyone on here is so negative haha!

Guys I honestly believe there is a 98% chance he stays with us, after all we have done for him, why would he leave?
Also we can match any offer that is given to him, he loves playing for Richmond.
The only reason he is "holding contract talks off" (which is his agents decision anyway) is so that he can get as much money as he can, which will we give him.

Have some faith.

At worst he is gone and at best he is seriously thinking about it! The merkin hates Richmondand has been trying to get him to leave for years. He'll go

Not sure if I heard it right this morning on Channel 9 Sunrise, but thought I heard him say he was weighing up his options. If I am right then that does not sound good.

I'd like to say he is being unreasonable.

I'd like to say he is being selfish.

But it's absolutely the right decision for Dustin Martin the footballer.

This will be the biggest decision of his footballing life and the club hasn't got things right.

It hurts and I'm worried but it's the right move for him.
