Matchwinner in finals? I wouldn't pay that.
Dusty had a great season last year but the team didn't win many games of football.
Good player sure, not worth a million dollars a season IMO.

If he backs up 2016 with another AA year then I'd pay him the dosh.

No we didn't. We played hardball 2 contract renewals ago. The last one happened away from the public eye and was just announced after he renewed.

True. My mistake. I hope he waits till the end of the year. Play good footy and see how the tigers are shaping up on and off the field.

maybe not but someone else will pay at least that and we will need to keep him.

I'd be surprised if he left for more money but everyone has a price point and we will need to as well.
Dusty will be 26 next season. He'll be after a 5 year deal. I doubt too many will give him that.
4 yrs at 800k seems about right to me.

Not keen on using isloated examples but Chris Mayne got a 4 year deal. Daniels Wells 3 years at whatever age he is. Another club will definitely come to the party.

Not his fault the team didn't win too many games of football.

I cant imagine what it would have been liked if he wasn't playing.

Both him and Rance kept that team together.

He is worth every dollar.

Other teams, particularly premiership bound teams, will offer him whatever he wants. I don't think it will be the money per se but success that might attract him. We need to do everything to keep him as he has 5+ years of good footy left in him.

I really have no doubt that Dusty will sign with Richmond, He wont leave because he loves melbourne and Richmond, He will sign a 4 year deal for between $3.2-$3.4mil

Hopefully, but Dusty needs to get every cent he can from his career, as he does not have the usual coaching/media inclination for life after playing.

He will find a job following the end of his career. He isn't just going to sit around for the rest of his life.

Disagree on this one Smokey. Very good player, not a champion like Rance is IMO.

Well they might.

If a club was prepared to offer Chris Mayne 4 , something tells me there'd be a club out there that would offer dustin Martin 5, I'm hioping it's us

Media certainly, but I reckon you would be surprised at his capacity to coach.

When you get to know him, he is a good communicator and has a good level of knowledge about the game.

He's excellent with kids and would make a good development coach or underage coach.

Given his durability I'd be more than happy to give him 5 years or longer next contract.

He'd make a good Conflict Resolution Officer with the ALPA.

Chopstick saga was well into it this time last year, it was before they returned to training from memory, im thinking young dusty will be a clean skin this preseason :)

If a little chopstick work sets you up for a B&F and a podium finish in the brownlow, then I say the whole side should be made to eat fried rice using chopsticks at Falls Festival this year. Hire a pack of journos to chase em around.
