Here we go. One player Martin, of 22 selected in a team, playing better is the reason we're playing so poorly.

Our foward line is terrible. The game plan doesn't help but apart from Jack there's no one down there that opposition clubs would be having meetings over during the week. Martin was a tricky matchup and is so much more damaging forward of centre. He is not a quarterback. Our midfield is just so shallow he has to be where he is atm because we can't win the footy without him.

What, are you sure Dan said that?

Last I heard it was $35000 per year plus a free scarf, hat and socks.

Come on. What's with the hat and free socks.. That's a salary Cap buster deal

We were a much better team when Martin was having 20 touches and kicking 3 goals than we are now when he is racking up touches.

Yep we need dusty having less touches and Jack kicking less goals to be a better side.

Problem is that if he is playing forward we simply can't get the ball to him. Plus many others have dropped their output so the overall team performance is nothing to do with Dusty. My only criticism is that he seems reluctant to have a shot from 50 metres out these days - dunno if it is team rules or his own decision making.

It's like he's GAj and we're the Suns of a few years ago, jb. He's larger than life ATM.

(I think he's five good kicks a week off becoming a champion.)

Robbing Peter to pay Paul comes to mind. 2 Martin's would be great.

how would fellow supporters feel if he eventually left and had success at another club? I would be quite happy for him.

I would be one pissed off tiger. I want him to be a one club player with us, win a brownlow or 2 and play in a premiership. Chances of it happening are slim but if you dont have hope you have nothing.

I no longer begrudge any player finding greener pastures. Why would any of them want to play the Richmond way?

Two years ago, I would have been aghast at the notion. Now, wouldn't mind at all. Wish he could take me with him.

If we lose Martin we may as well put up the shutters and Punt Rd can become a parking lot
Whats the point in chasing BIG FISH when you lose your best player?
If Dimmer continues as coach and Dusty leaves I will wish Dusty all the best

Dustin's got tatts and a gangster haircut, but Hodge's got the drink driving conviction.

Who's the role model again?

Hodge's past is a lot more chequered that just a drink driving conviction, hence the amount iof time it took for Hawthorn to give him the captaincy.

I noticed that Hardwick has apologised to Martin so for those who jumped on Hardwick's comments to stick the boots in to Dusty maybe a bit of humble is in order.

Yep. Those who want to pot the coach for what he says after a 70 point loss need to understand the emotions of the moment.

If Dimma been complimentary to Dustin in the post-game presser Dimma would have got smacked round the head by the astute types here for deflecting after such a horrendous loss, no doubt. Dimma's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't around here.

We even had the frankly ridiculous assertion that Dimma's presser was a Mick Malthouse style "sack me" message - wishful thinking.

Why? He still stuck the boots in. Hardwick's first instinct is always to blame the players, and usually it's the skillful ones.

I would love for one day not to hear him whine about losing contested ball, and instead say that he's stuffed up by spending seven years developing a game plan with no options once you win contested ball.

Your post smells of desperation Antman but kudos to you for vainly trying to defend the indefensible.

Geez yandb - you must have missed my open letter to Dimma.

Dimmer only said it because he knows Dusty's old man is out of the country.
