Dusty won't just be looking at the deal over the 7 years or whatever he gets. He will want to be looking at earnings after football. He doesn't have a great deal of prospects, he is unlikely to coach, do media, go on the speaker circuit etc, so for me the income he can earn from doing club gigs over the years surely should be considered. Being a 1 club player and a champion at that is worth a lot after his footballing days are over. He'll make a lot more over his life by being a 1 club player (and hopefully a premiership winner in there) than he would by taking the extra dollars at North.

I haven't changed my stance, Dusty will stay a Tiger IMO.

I feel the media are jumping at shadows trying their best to be the first with the news with Dusty. Get bragging rights about being a "exclusive".
Ralph imo doing his job for his clt, if like it or not that is his job.

IF he goes to North then we need to be aggressive like Adel were with Danger. North will win the wooden spoon and pick 1. We demand that with a star of theirs or a 2nd 1st rounder.

I do believe in the end he will stay.

Demand Woods and Pick 1

Just take a deep breath folks. We've got a glorious (so far) season to enjoy. Let whatever happens with Dusty be next months worry. Enjoy today.

For all we know Dusty might sign before week one of the finals giving everyone a huge lift for us to take revenge on the cats or crows.

Three outrageous comments within 20 odd words. Bravo!

We will see. It was not so long ago Dusty struggled to run out an entire Match. He is in his Prime now. Nothing outrageous at all.

Yes, if he goes, we need to turn it into a trade scenario. Pick 1 or 2. Question is would we take a Dusty replica in Rayner or the KPP we need in Brander?

I've said it before and I'll say it again will be a massive bust at North. In 2 years he'll be begging for the Tigers to take him back

We can Gary Ablett Jnr him.
Send him to North get the first pick and then in 5 years get him back

If Dusty is smart with his investments he won't have to work ever again whether he takes Richmond's deal or North's deal or whoever else wants to give him a deal. His returns after footy will never get him what he will get as a player. If Dusty is smart, he will see that he is set for life regardless of the choice he makes now so it then comes down to where he is likely to see premiership success if that is something he wants. If he does then he stays put, if he doesn;t then do you really want him at the Tigers in the future anyway?

Last I heard his manager said they would decide end of season. A bit under two weeks away.

Exactly. A few on this thread suffering from premature condemnation.

Reading that article from Swan just reinforces what a lot of us are thinking.
The Tigers are on the cusp of success, the kangas are in early stage rebuild. Which club would you go to if you wanted success. Not the mob on the bottom of the ladder.

Also if you were a kangas player who had been with them for a long time & were on $600k & a bloke from another club came in & was being paid 3 times as much as you I would think disatisfaction would be large.
Grumpy city right there.
How much do you reckon Ziebell, Cunnington, Goldstein etc etc etc are on. Nowhere near that sort of coin.

Goldy might be a good target for us

won't be much left after the merkin gets his share...

Dusty is a champion and will be so for at least the next 5 years. YES, we must keep him but at a sensible price so that we have $$$s left in the bank to add a few more A graders. Finally we have a list that gives us the depth we need to be in finals each year for at least the next 5. I have confidence that Balmey and the rest of the management can see that and will be doing some "outside the square" deals that will keep Dusty a Tiger forever. His dad is still the wildcard in this.

Oh goodie I can't wait channel 7 news to have the latest on Dusty contract negotiations. More journo speculation no doubt.

Caro has an infesting article in the age, says we are still in the dark.......really sounds like his simply chasing the biggest bid. Really can't build a case for him staying by what's in the media, however that sells more papers.

"Martin is a restricted free agent, so the Tigers could match any offer from the Roos. Industry figures maintain the Tigers should be the first club to do that, if required, for they are in their "premiership window". As of Monday, the Tigers remained uncertain about Martin's future, with the prevailing view that if his decision is based solely on money, he will leave."

I did get mail a few months ago that the decision would come down solely to $$. I hoped it was bs but now starting to get concerned...

Love Dusty but if he wants to rot at the most irrelevant club in the AFL so be it - he'll soon find that money doesnt buy happiness. Having said that - he'll stay for less money. We just need to hold our nerve.
