There is. He is going to Gold Coast.

Is he meeting with Martin's dad to sell the virtues of the Gold Coast then?

For an adult, Martin seems way too influenced by his father.

How come there is no media pressure on Brad Scott. Taken a Preliminary Finalist to the bottom of the ladder.

Yeah hard to work out. Since 2010 North have finished 9th, 9th, 8th, 10th, 6th, 8th, 8th. This year they may finish last. So after 8 seasons what has he actually achieved for North. Just an average mediocre team. Why doesn't he get scrutinized like Hardwick was last year?

He did get them to 2 Preliminary Finals, I guess........

He was at his upset best denying that he isn't possibly tanking and not going for the 1st draft pick :) lol

What really irks me if this materialises is how Norf can suddenly splash that kind of cash after being propped up by the AFL for such a long time. For God's sakes the whole equalisation measures policy is largely down to them and the Bulldogs. Why have a soft salary cap for off field spending then? It hardly seems just that this can happen when other teams are being reigned in for their own investments.

Yes but you rarely win premierships finishing 5th or lower and he hasn't managed to get them to finish higher than 6th in 8 years. The blow torch should have well and truly been on him well before now. But even now nothing.

I think making the call to clean out the veterans bought him some time.
Clearly they are looking at a rebuild. Ladder position irrelevant. They're looking at the draft.

I've been a bit worried that Dusty has taken the foot off the pedal after the Dangerfield suspension. Glad he was back to his best yesterday.

Yep great point.

Dusty just put the Brownlow beyond question. Can't see anyone getting within 6 votes of him.

If what Denham says is true you gotta let him go.

I reckon we are seeing Dusty at his peak. He,ll probably play like this for another season or 2 then the decline starts. I guess that's why he's after an alleged 7 year deal.

But if you believe you are in a premiership window Dusty has to be there. Cotch is 28yo next year (didn't he talk about leaving the game relatively early in the past). Rance 28yo, Reiwoldt 29yo, Morris 29yo (ok no meltdowns please, that's a joke). I reckon Dusty is one of those players that could be a forward nightmare once his midfield time is up. Dusty could easily play till 32yo if that's what's on the table. Certainly risky but if Swans can risk a 10 year deal for Buddy then 7 years for a Dusty is not out of the question.

Agree tigertim IF true no way we should mortgage our clubs future to the tune of 10.5 mill over 7 years. We all love Dusty but if he chooses to chase the cash, which is his right you would have to let him go.
I trust Balmey to hold ground on our best offer and whatever will be will be.

Yep, that's the key with Dusty. I'm thinking Brad Johnson impact once he hits 30.

You would pay Brad Johnson 1.5 mill a year in his latter years?

Agree. We must hold onto him. Can understand if we had a recent flag or 2 like buddy and the hawks did but its 37 years going onto 50 for us.

Problem is that for us, the next two years is probably our window with the age of Jack, Rance and Cotch also close to the roll down the wrong side of the hill.

Another perfect storm for the long suffering Us. AFL props up a side like Norf. They can compete only due to equalisation and have no one else to pay while they follow the Carlton path. We have a player who will rely on a pay day now, as his media future isn't pathed with gold. His manager is flog who didn't exist in the Football world till recently. The other two people who have the most influence on him have beef with the club.

We either win a flag this year...

Dusty defies perception by ignoring the cash and the three wise monkeys, staying to try win a flag with his mates despising the idea of years at the bottom with a bottom feeder club...

We roll the dice, match the offer and try snag a flag before we lose the fab four to shady acres!...

or we start investing for 3 to 5 years down the road. Well at least the Haters will be happy as we slide down the ladder!

Norf can splash the cash knowing they'll receive AFL handouts have kept them in existence and will continue too.

Add the fact they refused to relocate to give themselves a chance of survival. The AFL should have demanded they move or stand on their own two feet if they chose to stay.

They have no fear of the consequences of any financial decisions as they have the AFL underwriting their future!
