You would pay Brad Johnson 1.5 mill a year in his latter years?

Have to look at his service over the whole 7 years, but yeah, Johnson kicked 74, 59, 50 & 37 goals from 30-34. That would be more than adequate if we get another Brownlow type season. And our offer is 1.2 million, not 1.5.

Yeah hard to work out. Since 2010 North have finished 9th, 9th, 8th, 10th, 6th, 8th, 8th. This year they may finish last. So after 8 seasons what has he actually achieved for North. Just an average mediocre team. Why doesn't he get scrutinized like Hardwick was last year?

North doesn't sell papers or get click bait. No one cares about them.

I'd hate do do this as I love the bloke...

But considering his best is behind him, our game plan doesn't rely on him, trade jack and front load dusties contract.

Who do we need more going fwd Dusty or Jack? Plus we would get some good picks or good player.

Is he meeting with Martin's dad to sell the virtues of the Gold Coast then?

For an adult, Martin seems way too influenced by his father.
Its not his Dad, its his Dads Bike mates...

Jack has always signed & without fuss & never put us through a saga like this. He loves the club. We shouldn't be off loading champs of the club to accommodate selling the farm. Just my opinion anyway

Lot of froth and bubble going on at the minute.

My money says he stays and his manager is milking the Tigers for every cent he can get.

Trouble is if we fall for this crap we sacrifice elsewhere.

There has to be a limit which I think is about 1.2 and a career after football. Other than that move on, our best is our best and the rest is for Dusty to choose.

absolutely sick of this.
Just want Dustin to sign. 1.2m is a lot of money,
The club has done everything possible to do the right thing by Dustin.
There is no loyalty, but to win a premiership there has to be sacrifice and loyalty they come hand in hand.

the decision has to be his, not his dads or his manager.
You have to be happy where you work, its not all about money.
If he goes he will learn this
If he does massive disappointment for or club.

Agree Bully, happy to pay 1.2 mill max but wouldn't up offer to match North's if rumour of $1.5 mill is true. Dusty will be 27 June next year and history shows players decline post 30 so in all probability there are 3 more years of Dusty in his prime, the last 4 years would leave us hoping Dusty defies the odds and maintains his worth, a potential TPP disaster if not. You would be much more comfortable if he was 22 like Josh Kelly.

How the hell would we win a flag if we trade Jack?

Dusty will stay. This is just a combination of North getting desperate, Carr's brinkmanship and journos guessing and being led by the nose by vested interests.

The Merkin is a piece of *smile* that doesn't give a stuff about the RFC

I hope the Tiger army run into him in an alley on a dark night.

Hey RFC officials who would be mad not to monitor these forums.

Time to bring this contact to a head. Significantly taking the sparkle off a very good home and away year.

Truth.

Jack Graham replaces Dusty within 2 years at 350k per year. See ya Dusty have fun at North watching the Tigers win a few flags.

Getting back to Dane Swans statement re: his mate Dustin

“And I think Richmond is just on the verge of some success which they haven’t had for a long time. Speaking to Dusty, I know that’s something that drives him, not just the big contract which he’s gonna get no matter what but playing finals.

“There’s light at the end of the tunnel with Richmond ... and I think that’s going to go a long way to helping him stay there.”

So what is it really because you would think that NMFC isn't going to have much success in say 3/5 years, mind you things can turnaround quickly.

If it is the dollars then by all means chase them that's his perogative but when there is a press release stating that team success was part of the equation then I'd expect some disappointed RFC people.

If going by the media reports (rumours) that NMFC have upped their offer to 1.5m over 10 years or 7 I think we might have say thanks but no thanks.

I'm a Dustin supporter but first and foremost I'm a RFC member and supporter and I expect the board to make a rational not irrational decision on paying one player so much, that may have future consequences for our pay structure moving forward.

I still believe or perhaps hope that common sense might prevail and he will stay, but also resigned to the fact that after all is said and done the $$$$ will be the major factor.

Does anyone else think that 1.5 million for a mid fielder seem OTT?

Does the fact that he is still contracted till the end of October that may drag this out even further than we would like, I personally don't think we will know till the GF is done and dusted.
Despite what the Merkin has stated Re: end of the season statement.

One thing I know is that im glad Neil Balme is heavily involved in these delicate discussions and too be honest out football club has acted in a professional manner in regards to keeping things in house and not running a weekly commentary on the discusssions.

It will be such a sad situation to see our Brownlow medalist walk away from a club that has nurtured and help him grow.

A few rumblings about North bur they seem to come from the journos getting leaks Carr rather than RFC.

1.5 million over 7 years? That might be too much. One Nathan Brown like leg break is all it takes to lose that investment and we're screwed with a massive hit to the salary cap with sweet fa to show for it.

I am getting sick of all this talk about Dusty!!!

Dusty sign up or get stuffed , the club has put a very good contract in front of you 1.2 over a reported 7 years!!! think about it this way Trent, Jack and Alex are on between 750k / 850k a year and you have been offered a whopping 1.2. in order to be a successful club we need to retain and be able to bring more talent we just cant afford to over pay one player even though he is our best player.

Dusty the club and the supports have supported you from day dot its time you repay the faith !! think of it this way play your career out with this great club maybe win a Brownlow or 2 and be part of the drought breaking premiership side and by the end of you career become a legend of the RFC, or go and chase the money at North and enjoy playing football in front of 10k every week and traveling to Hobart also while your at it ask Gary Abblet to see if his happy with the dissension he made to take the money or would he had rather stayed at Geelong win another premiership and play in finals.

money isn't everything.

I would be tying him down long term.....the crows will be all over him next year

Three outrageous comments within 20 odd words. Bravo!

If Graham becomes half of Dusty in the future I will be very very happy.

I feel the media are jumping at shadows trying their best to be the first with the news with Dusty. Get bragging rights about being a "exclusive".
Ralph imo doing his job for his clt, if like it or not that is his job.

IF he goes to North then we need to be aggressive like Adel were with Danger. North will win the wooden spoon and pick 1. We demand that with a star of theirs or a 2nd 1st rounder.

I do believe in the end he will stay.
