Chocco dosent exactly fill you with confidence Dusty is staying, saying we are still a chance

Hmmmmmm.

There just seems no logical reason for Martin to leave (that we are aware of anyway).

Chocco was saying he's aware of big contract offers, I think he was meaning we are a bit off what others are offering, others may have taken it differently.

Won't be comfortable till his signed JB

I thought Dusty had made his mind up ages ago, however now I'm just not convinced he has.

*smile* frustrating for the supporter , however it's Dustys call

Heard Chocco talked Shiel out of considering coming to us

As an older mentor to both of these guys, you would like to think that he advises them in their best interest, not in the best interest of a footy club. Any footy club, Richmond included.

This will just play out in the way that it should. Our anxiety is not really part of the equation.

The story goes there are about a million reasons for him to leave and hence the indecision. He wants to stay, his old man just wants him to take the highest offer, most other people in his life are advising him to stay and who would know what Carr is advising him. That's a lot of dough for a guy who's not going to earn much money in his own right once his career is over.

He may not be a business man BT, but his profile may help his clothing lines get a big kick start and turn into a boom. I think Craig Ellis is now a multi millionaire thanks to bathers or the like

I'm leaning this way too. 7 years takes him to 33.

Yeah, but a $1.2m problem in 7 years time is probably a $600k problem in today's money - not based on CPI of course, but based on salary cap increases and the likelihood that future income could be paid ahead of time (e.g. if we have 300k of capacity in our cap, we could prepay future years).

If we don't keep him, we can pretty much give up on landing a premiership in the next few years, we don't have enough top end talent and if we can't keep it, we won't be able to buy it in.

He can gagf as far as I'm concerned
Unless he signs, then he's a legend
Brilliant rockkafella. Absolutely brilliant :clap

I feel exactly the same way but just couldn't find the right words to articulate it. You are a poet my friend

serious question: Is Tom Mitchell a chance? 18 games with over 30+ possessions. he must be in the frame.

He won't poll because the AFL will wanna avoid the embarrassment of an ineligible player winning.

another 35possessions on the weekend and another 0 coaches votes.
good player, should be nowhere the brownlow.

Im not a big Dangerfield liker think he is a bit up himself but when he left the crows asked for fair compensation for them and said he wanted to play with the cats on a high but fair salary so they still had the opportunity to bring in extra talent. Compare this to Martin and his management who just want the big bucks and dont seem to want play the team first philosophy!

Danger only went to Geelong for fair compensation because he wanted to live near his family at Moggs Cr. It wasn't altruism - not was about personal gain - only non-financial gain. He also has significantly more post career prospects than Dusty, meaning that he won't be as dependent on his earnings from footy for the rest of his life as what Dusty will probably be.

Dusty will be relying on investing wisely with his earnings. Sure, he'll make some money along the way, but his natural earning capacity is likely to be lower than Dangerfield - which is more a comment about Danger's earning capacity than Dusty's.

If there are two clubs both offering 7 years, one at 1.3m and one at 1.2m, that's an additional 350k earnings after tax over the 7 years. Information I have is that the offers from the other clubs are substantially more than what Richmond is offering, so it could possibly be an additional $500k-700k after tax earnings ... he needs to consider these other offers, and compare them against the lifelong friendships he has formed, which will continue to strengthen, at Tigerland.
