Dustin Martin

Ralph Carr doesn't make a lot of commission out of Dusty. I think it is only 4-6% of the salary. He can make more money from marketting, but unfortunately Dusty isn't really marketable. So it's Dusty's choice. He likes Richmond as they have helped him grow. They will pay him realistically, given he is now eligible for a 20% pay rise. Ralph made a fool of himself last time, not sure that Dusty was happy about that, and he got his pay dropped because of it. Ralph can try as hard as he likes and he may be smarting from last time, but Dusty will make his own call.

couple of things I don't understand:

1 how media people say Richmond will be negligent and shouldnt match a big rival offer. if say for eg Essendon offer 1.4m over 5 years is that not negligent on their behalf. only on ours if we match it?? how does that work??
if a club is offering a contract surely we should match it. we have cap space and it has just increased. he is prob the best player in the comp now, so why would you risk losing him, when you can match and keep him (I don't buy it that he would want to leave, he loves the club he would only leave for more money. make that a non issue and I think hes very happy to stay).

2. when players ala buddy GAJ were looking at the option of moving clubs, they tried very hard to keep everything hush hush. yet we see ralph openly going to meet other clubs. there is no hush hush about it. if dustys intention was to leave you would think he would want to keep it hidden from the club/other players as much as possible. this is going the other way, it seems they want everyone to know they are speaking to other clubs. I think this is due to scare tactics and that their intention to try and make RFC pay as much as possible for dusty. that's how I take it anyway.

Agree both fair points

Top up to 12.5 next year ending at 13.4 at end of 6 year deal 28.5% increase in total.
No excuses for not getting a deal done now if all that were waiting for was deal to be signed off on

If Dusty wants to stay now that deal has been reached with player$ Assoc.
I'd expect him to re-sign within a few weeks if not I'd expect him to tell Our club he's leaving so we can get on with it

So its a 20% payrise?

That means dustys last contract becomes about $700k a year.

$6m for 6.

If that dont get it done, id reckon its probably not gonna get done.

But i reckon that'd get it done.

Whats rance on?

Year 1 20%
Year 2 1.3
Year 3 1.2
Years 4-6 2 , 2 , 2
28.5%

EBA done. Some reports said EBA first, contract will follow. Wait and see. Ralph will drag this on because, well because he's Ralph Carr!!http://www.tv14.net/lotus-macau/

Dusty is a great kid. My cousin Luke has a fantastic relationship with him and speaks really highly of him. Treats him like a brother.

He wants to stay. I understand the role of a player manager & in this situation I believe the other offers aren't that much better than Rich

Dustin Martin will stay @Richmond_FC super confident he won't be going anywhere.

Dusty has marketability to people who are into streetwear clubbing and edgy stuff.

He's currently the most popular player with the Richmond fans. Sure, he's not going to be the face of Commonwealth Bank but there is plenty of other opportunies for Richmond to explore outside cap restrictions.

Apparently every club has a million or so they are allowed to spend on player marketting.

I love the way the club is handling this. Not panicking
Not the end of the world if he leaves. We still have Edwards. Grigg and Houli
