About where I see it too, 6 years up to 1.2 puts 7m on the table, not a bad booty if you're happy doing what you're doing

And able to do it a club that he is happy at...apparently.

Dustin Martin has broken 27 tackles this year which is Number 1 in the AFL.

Next best is 13.

Beast mode.

In detail:

Most broken tackles in 2017

27: Dustin Martin (Richmond)
13: Adam Saad (Gold Coast)
12: Sam Powell-Pepper (Port Adelaide), Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti (Essendon),Patrick Dangerfield (Geelong)
10: Jarman Impey (Port Adelaide), Lance Franklin (Sydney), Jake Stringer (Western Bulldogs)

SPP the next DM. Saad was at Coburg 2s but we didn't notice him.

:rofl

Hope desperately we never lose Dusty - want him to be a one-club player.

But, if we should, we point the war-chest in the Josh Kelly direction and take the best tall we can get in the draft. Plus need Soldo or Elton or Moore or Chol to "do something!"

Best of all, Griff recovers 100%.

Dusty needs to let the club know well before seaaon end. The club needs to be able to make plans and start dangling carrots.

The only carrot where got is stuck up our ass. First top 5 footballer we have had in 25 years and the club is no closer to knowing what he is doing is a disgrace.
Let's not be stupid on this. Martin knows today what he he is doing regarding next year.
Hawthorn were 99% sure franklin was walking out. He was gone
It's not Scully like. Everyone knew he was out.

Will be interesting to hear as the season winds up.
If we hear that we are into a big fish than he is gone.
*smile* situation because the biggest fish in the league is already here.

I don't think he does. I think he wants to stay but it would be dumb to not try and get the best deal possible by using other club offers as definition of fair value.

Collingwood are too silent. Im pretty sure they are very confidant they can get him

Reckon Dusty wants to stay. I think if it was Dusty alone he'd have already signed, but Ralph Carr wants to squeeze out every last cent before he signs a contract. Still reckon he stays as utlimately Dusty wants to be at Tigerland IMO.

I think people worry too much. we know he has a flog of a manger and the EBA hasn't been locked in yet. all the media speculation is coming from idiots such as Watson and Ox who have no idea what they're talking about because they are not "in the know." even if Essendon has put together a massive offer, that in no way means he is going anywhere. the main problem here is that there are too many journo's in the game and they need to talk and speculate about something to remain relevant in such a cut throat industry. The fact Dusty was BOG on the weekend suggests its not getting to him. so why should it get to us?

The rumoured teams that are chasing dusty are no closer to a flag than we are so doubt he is going for team success elsewhere.

The list management team would already have contingencies. Thats their job.

As time marches on player movement will become more fluid as per the US sports model. Its just a matter of time.

Loyalty to contract $$ is the new mantra and also maintaining the brand. Both of the player as a brand and also the club (Franchise).

This is a stupid post, I'm sure the club is aware of their position, however as all clubs, they don't comment in season on players contracts...

As others have pointed the CBA hasn't been finalized and even if it had, other clubs cannot make a formal offer although as we know they do, so once the CBA is complete if he doesn't sign with us shortly after I would be concerned, until that time all the huffing and puffing is futile.

Would everyone on here be happy to pay dusty whatever it takes to keep him, if it jeopardises the chances of building a premiership list.

I think about 950k should be the number if dusty was fair dinkum about helping the team achieve success. If he's trying to squeeze every last dollar and make us over pay, then it's all about the money for him and he couldn't give a *smile* about team success

I don't think we can win a premiership without him. He's probably worth 2.5 players on the field. We need to do whatever it takes to keep him. I don't think it will come down to the highest bidder.

Yes, there is no need for panic, it's just part of the contract process and Dusty doesn't seem concerned, he's playing great footy. Why should we be concerned even if he doesn't sign soon after the CBA is finalised? In the end if he chases more dough and doesn't want to play with us (which I don't think will happen) then we just move on. We bargain hard for high picks as compensation or excellent replacements from other clubs. Aren't we a few years away from a serious flag tilt anyway? It would be great to keep him but you can't depend on just one player to get that prize anyway because an injury might come at the worst possible time. Quality depth is what you need not one or two stars.
