Dustin Martin

Martin will stay, in my opinion. Maybe not on the big dollars some clubs will throw at him. But he will stay. He seems invested in the club. Yet, RFC is going to part with more than a million bucks if it wants to keep the #4.

It's not uncle Clinton that's the problem at the moment, it's his brother Mark who is a back room big wheel money bags at Essendrugs. Hun claims he looks after some property deals for Dusty n is full on in Dusty's ear hole.
Last person we want getting involved in deals to help players out is uncle Clint, last time he looked after a few of the boys they got reamed.

Exactly my point Maso. Mark made a lot of money for Dodoro and Bomber Thompson a year or two ago. We look to have had the idiot brother in our corner. :hihi

The AFL wouldn't allow property deals to be thrown into a players wage deal. They would force it onto the TOP

unfortunately due to Dusty's lack of outside the game marketing potential its only going to be about the $$money$$

Richmond tend to look after their one club champions. It's one thing we have in our back pocket.

Dusty is stronger but Danger is better in the air. It's why I put Danger above Dusty.
Scotty cmon man. Danger isnt richmond. Dusty is. I put dusty over danger any day.

I think our $ offer per year will be less but the contract will be longer. Wouldn't be surprised if it's around 7 years.

No way 5 years about 1.1
That's it.

*clubs have seen the damage Sydney is gone through. There's no chance we will offer a huge amount including 7 years.

I can see it now -
Round 1, Goddard gives Dusty the famous finger point telling him where to go / set up on the ground.
Round 2, Goddard out with broken fingers.

I'm sure Dusty would be very apologetic towards Goddard, and offer him some finger splints made up from brocken chop sticks

Is there a rule against doing business mid-season?

Technically no offers are allowed to be put in front of a player prior to the trade period. But strangely (or not), no club has ever been punished for poaching.

Seriously? I would have thought players are not allowed to sign a deal but surely they should be able to hear them.

That's Buddy ridiculous! If true...

Bombers reportedly throw $1.6 million at Dustin Martin

Numbers are starting to get thrown around in the chase for Dustin Martin – big numbers – and while I can state the superstar midfielder is keen to stay at Richmond, it will be hard for him to say no to a difference that could amount to an extra half a million dollars a year.

Essendon has been reported as putting an offer of $1.6 million a year on the table for the tattooed Tiger, a figure around twice the size of what was being talked of at the beginning of the year.

“Essendon are in it up to their eyelids,” David Schwarz told SEN show The Run Home on Monday night.

“I believe they are front-runners…(I’ve heard) $1.6 (million).”

The Bombers quickly reacted, putting out a statement denying the report.

"Essendon Football Club can categorically confirm that no offer has been made to Dustin Martin or his management and reports suggesting otherwise are unfounded."

No matter what figures have landed in front of Dusty and his management, there’s no doubt Richmond is going to need to up the ante from what they would have hoped to get away with earlier in the year.

The Tigers have cash available and will be freeing up more as they stop paying part of Brett Deledio’s salary at the Giants and having to claim Chris Yarran’s unfulfilled contract.

But matching all other offers will restrict their ability to bring in a star recruit of their own, such as Sam Reid or Josh Schache.
