Seriously? I would have thought players are not allowed to sign a deal but surely they should be able to hear them.
It's an impossible rule to enforce. How the hell could you stop managers having conversations with potential suitors?

If Bummers are offering $1.6Mill pa to Dusty
We should offer $1Mill pa to Daniher 8-

800k will do, and the thought of never having to play against Rance again

The Ox has just said on SEN that Essendon have offered 1.6 million per year over 5 years

If this is legitimate (which probably isn't, but lets sake for the argument assume that it is), then good luck and goodbye dusty. but personally I think that is an outrageous figure. it will still be more than 13% of the cap assuming it does go up by 20% next year. that is a hell of a lot for 1 person and would be completely irresponsible by Essendon to do this. Others are right... if this is legitimate we will have to have a big crack at Daniher.

You couldn't possibly pay that much. It will cause another Tippett/franklin senario.

Bombers reportedly throw $1.6 million at Dustin Martin

Numbers are starting to get thrown around in the chase for Dustin Martin – big numbers – and while I can state the superstar midfielder is keen to stay at Richmond, it will be hard for him to say no to a difference that could amount to an extra half a million dollars a year.

Essendon has been reported as putting an offer of $1.6 million a year on the table for the tattooed Tiger, a figure around twice the size of what was being talked of at the beginning of the year.

“Essendon are in it up to their eyelids,” David Schwarz told SEN show The Run Home on Monday night.

“I believe they are front-runners…(I’ve heard) $1.6 (million).”

The Bombers quickly reacted, putting out a statement denying the report.

"Essendon Football Club can categorically confirm that no offer has been made to Dustin Martin or his management and reports suggesting otherwise are unfounded."

No matter what figures have landed in front of Dusty and his management, there’s no doubt Richmond is going to need to up the ante from what they would have hoped to get away with earlier in the year.

The Tigers have cash available and will be freeing up more as they stop paying part of Brett Deledio’s salary at the Giants and having to claim Chris Yarran’s unfulfilled contract.

But matching all other offers will restrict their ability to bring in a star recruit of their own, such as Sam Reid or Josh Schache.

Old news. Bombers have already denied this. Edit: Oops just noticed denial is in your post, sorry.

I think Dusty and is signature is very much connected to Dimma and his future at Richmond.

If dusty jumps ship this year, Dimma will almost certainly be moved on.

Dimma has a huge vested interest in Dusty resigning.

In big organisations more than 50% of the reason why people stay in their jobs, or move on with their jobs, depends on their relationship with their manager.

If Dimma is as good at being loved by his players as Benny Gale thinks he is, Dusty will sign.

If he doesnt sign Dimma should be sacked.

There is a small, but crucial hyphen missing from the above

I think your argument about Dimma love being testable is is watertight, Niko. But it won't just be Damien who goes if Dusty does.

I think our $ offer per year will be less but the contract will be longer. Wouldn't be surprised if it's around 7 years.

I'd happily give him 6 or 7 years. Dusty isn't quite 26 yet. 6 years would take him to 32-33, 7 would take him to 33-34. By that time I'm guessing he may not have the tank through the middle, but he will be a very useful forward at that time. As a full time forward, Dusty would kick 40 goals / year IMO.

My gut feel is Dusty will stay. 5 to 6 yr deal $1.2 mill a yr on average (maybe different increments). Maybe a bonus $ incentive if we win finals

Have heard the blooze are on the Dusty hunt...
And we all know how they dispense their coin, in bags under the table.

If he goes, I say go hard into the draft, if he stays I say fill the needs

Yep and then next year off Tom Lynch whatever he wants to leave GC, we could afford to have a dash at Steven May this year too. Dont think Dusty will leave for the record.

The pies are very silent. I reckon if there's one club already ready to swoop its eddiewood

About where I see it too, 6 years up to 1.2 puts 7m on the table, not a bad booty if you're happy doing what you're doing
