Dustin Martin

He's just become so much more dangerous this year. His tank is better and he's putting in consistently for 4 quarters.

Superstar.

This bloke is a Great Richmond champion.

There was a significant period last night where we actually couldn't get a kick. Couldn't touch the ball. Martin just intervened. Changed the game.

It's not just his power to intervene it's his sublime ball use that makes him the best player in the game. There is no better field kick or handball.

If we are cheap skates and lose him and I gotta watch him fend off Richmond players in a north or Essendon jumper, I reckon it would turn me off footy completely.

That's if the rules changes, umpiring and interpretations don't do that first.

I said to easy jr at 3/4 time

'this is when selwood and danger grab a game and just win it"

and at 4/4 time, he goes

'well, dusty and chimp grabbed it'

Junior woulda been pretty pleased, et. Our leaders didn't let him down. :)

The thing is Martin had already kept us in it. He went on with it. It was Chimp that lifted.

Just one more thing about Martin's game. He lifted his defensive work rate to change the game. His intervention began with real defensive running and heat.

This year Dusty has levelled up defensively and in regularity of sublime use. And in game awareness. He knows when to change it with heat and when to break it open.

It's a privilege and a great pleasure to watch this metamorphosis. The champion emerging.

Fully endorse your comments; Dusty is becoming the complete modern AFL machine. The poise and self-belief now while under pressure is amazing to watch. He only releases the ball fast if it's really hot; otherwise forces a way out, back or through to decipher the most attacking option. Generally his kicks set up plays superbly now. He's the penetrator.

Driving into the game , flicking stations ,

Mathew Lloyd said Dustin would go better at Essendon than Richmond because he would have stronger leaders around him ,

Hope someone rang him up after the game asking about the Essendon leaders ability to stop Dustin

yr absolutely right Dyer'ere. the words 'Great Richmond Champion' don't get thrown around and this is exactly what he is. he lights it up and shows the way and that's what champs do.

It's bloody funny listening to these blokes. Lloyd probably the best comedian of them all.

Who are their leaders again? Their coach who oversaw the worst drug culture ever seen in the AFL, their former Captain who at one stage admitted to taking substances in which he had no idea of what they were or their current Captain who went missing last night when the heat was on?

Oh and then there is Brendan Goddard.... :rotfl

This is why we need to pay him $1M a year or whatever other clubs are offering, he is worth it.

I agree. It would be an absolute disaster if he left.

Franchise player with a capital 'F'

yeah ,stronger leaders was what he said , It was a follow up to his article through the week on richmond lacking leadership im assuming ,

when asked , he then mentioned Watson ,

pretty comical , I know there are question marks on our club , that is fine,I get that , but he is seriously deluded with essendon
