Dustin Martin

Martins going to be that BIG fish we have been talking about signing at seasons end. What a coup it will be to lure him to Richmond. Open checkbook I say :p

Starting to think that if he does leave so be it.
I was truly terrified of him leaving earlier but if he want out than we must get the best deal for a bloke entering his absolute prime.
Maybe we should offload him and a few others and go down. Hit the drafts and come back with a new coach and gameplan.
As much as i have enjoyed the start of the seasoni think Sunday showed us that we are so far off the pace and the longer we tread water teams like Melbourne, St kilda even bloody Carlton will shoot past us as we look for another rebuild in 3 years time.
This list won't win us a GF or even get us there.
Maybe losing Dusty will be beneficial for all.

Can't think of many high profile players in recent times who have put off contract talks until the end of the season and stayed with their current club.

It's not the end of the world if he walks. A number of clubs actually got better after losing a star player. Hawthorn with Franklin. Bulldogs and Griffin. Adelaide and Dangerfield. Geelong and Ablett.

No to all of the above. Be damned if I want to follow a team who is rebuilding yet again because it lost one of its stars. The team's fortunes should not be premised on one player.

I think he will go and with the AFL'S blessing. Sydney, Suns or Brisbane would love him. Good luck to him, I cannot see he's worth a million.

jeez hadnt even thought of that.

The AFL probably has a team of immigration consultants working on the reportation papers for his old man as long as they both go to Sydney, as we write.

Very true. But most of them have had success pior to losing their player.
Adelaide is a great club at drafting . Alongside the doggies.

Even if we ended up with 6 first rounders. With the mob we have we will mostly end up with duds.
I don't trust them.

I've heard Eddie employed Dustys old man as Pies NZ scout on $1Mill pa
Dusty has agreed to play for Pies for a $1 coin No salary cap issues at thePies AFL sanctioned trade it's all good

We can take the *smile* but sadly nothing is beneath the corrupt AFL and their contrived competition imo.

If Martin goes he goes, i however am still of the opinion he will stay at Punt Road.

We might be crap without him but we have'nt exactly been that crash hot with him either.

The RFC will go on even without Dusty.

But he will come at a cost which the RFC must maximise if the unthinkable eventuates.

It will be another rebuild if Dusty goes for mine though.

A Fair Dinkum one with a new Coach and new recruiting and revamped Football Department, with top shelf performers head hunted and cherry picked to get things on track under the direction of Balmey.

It's not about because we may lose a star. It is more that we just don't have the cattle to compete at the top. What we do have is currency at the trading table and uncompromised drafts.

So I take it that there's no salary cap in Adelaide?
They have plenty of space and can offer a serious tilt at a premiership.

Cotchy was giving Dusty some stick tonight at the Village Green Footy night.
Someone in the crowd asked I've just bought a Richmond jumper should I put No. 4 on it for a year or No. 9 for longer?

Cotchy said you can always put a zero next to the 4 next year and you have Dan Butler. (was taking the p!ss out of Dusty!)

Then Dusty said just get the No. 4 to a huge roar in the crowd.

Actually was a good night.

It's an unusual situation guys.

Players are holding out for the EBA and so are clubs, no one actually knows how much money they have to spend. Secondly Dusty has Carr who doesn't follow any rules and you cannot to draw any conclusions from his actions.

I don't know anything more than anyone else but my view is and has always been that Dusty will sign with the Tigers.

No nswtiger but was a good night.

Plenty of crowd interaction.

The host a Dude named Damien was pretty good.
Asked plenty of questions to both then quizzed one on the other.

Crowd loved it.

A couple of fun facts.

Dusty was a Saints supporter and had pics of Robert Harvey and Stewart Loewe on his wall. They won a final against Sydney and he was happy because his dad was a Swans fan.
Later on though he did say he doesn't mind the Swans.
Cotchy was a Geelong supporter and when they lost that final against Sydney (when Davis kicked those last quarter goals) he bashed his hand on the table and got a clip from his Dad.

They both despise Melbourne. They called it their favourite win of the year so far. Apparently the Dees are an arrogant bunch.

Not much chance to take a photo with them as too many people but other than that was a good night.

No point speculating at this stage, won't do a deal till new pay scale comes in. After that who knows. My feeling is that he will stay.
