There were whispers over here last year they they had a chat last year. The seed has been planted and why wouldn't he?

I wouldn't be surprised he ends up at the Lexus centre

I won't watch footy anymore if he goes to that frighten place. If he is to leave that's the last place I want him to go. I couldn't bear it that prick Eddie talking him up .....ahhh nah I'll give it away!!
Just pay him the mil and even more. He's worth every penny!!

Dusty to the Crows, heard that a bit here as well.

It's interesting how a win shapes ones views about a player's performance.
It's interesting how a loss shapes ones views about a player's performance.
I guess it's all about finding that small kernel of truth in between those two outcomes.
Martin has never really strutted his stuff on the big stage of September footy (nor have most of his team mates), so we are yet to see whether he has the character, composure and endeavour to play at the elite level against supreme competition and opposition.
Maybe in a better side we would see the real ability and prowess of Martin?

Histroy dictates that this is likely but until it officially happens i will hold out hope that he runs around again for us next year.

He gets marked very differently to the other A graders that's for sure. Wolves are always out and they don't use the same criticisms when the others are off. I mean there is still the stigma he is lazy and doesn't get the hard ball... yet he was elite in that in the competition last year and easily leading our team this year as well as clearances. Still top 10 in the afl for those and number one for inside 50's.

I guess if he leaves they will be dancing for joy to be rid of such a bum.

Hope he stays.
If he does leave i wonder whether the new club will be happy for him to go and see his dad a couple of times during the season, and what his teammates would think about it.

IMO Dusty putting off contact talks till end of season means :wave
Shows he has no faith in Dimmer or direction club is taking

If I'm not mistaken, the fact is Dusty has put contract talks off until the end of the season.

A reporter directly asked Dimma "Are you confident he’ll be there next year?" and his reply was to pause, take a breath, and say “I’d love to think I’m confident, I think we’re a good match”.

He didn’t answer the question, he gave a politician's yes. "Will Dusty be at Richmond next year?" > "I think we’re a good match". He was always emphatic with our other big names.

I should add Jack's response on 360 a couple of weeks ago. He was asked directly and like Dimma, he paused and gave an uncomfortable, indirect answer. Someone else did it too.

Has read like they know he's gone for months now. I was hoping if we finish top 4, and the salary cap increases by 30%, he'll change his mind.

Is there a link to dusty saying this or is it just speculation?

Speculation, imagination, guess work, *smile* ........ it's pretty much all the same.

No one knows what Dustin is doing except Dustin and the Merkin.

Puff piece on that site we cannot mention. Some journo rings up Carr, he repeats what he has said for 2 months and it's a story

The issue is the EBA. Once the club knows the salary cap it is working with it will update the offer.

Mr Damien Hardwick's career has not been on the line in his entire tenure at Punt Road. Until now.

Central to his righteous ambition of coaching Richmond to a finals win in 2017 is the performance of his best player Dustin Martin.

Martin has to lift. Hardwick has to lift.

Damien would love to be able to handle the media like his progenitor Kevin Sheedy did. But Hardwick all but conceded that he was a post-match duffer in his bungles of late 2016 when chuckling became his go to after defeat.

It's time to resume control.

Rory Sloane laid seven tackles in the third quarter. The thing is his team was winning. Dustin Millionaire got a great view of this because, along with Dion Prestia, he had the best seat in the house. They were the best seats not just because they were so close to Sloane's exploits but because of the vast sums they were paid to sit in them.

And apparently Dustin Martin is going to get paid more to sit in that seat next year.

Sheedy might have handled it through the media.

If you're the coach you know you're getting a Martin contract question. That's the time to talk about how much you'd pay Sloane. What money Sloane is worth and why he's worth it. To focus on the elements of Sloane's game that make him worth it.

The coach has just done a dozen things with only a few dozen words. Balme can do this. Hardwick has to learn.

There are two things that matter here. Hardwick's media performance is not just about selling memberships to the afflicted. It's about handling player performance and even contracts. He has to lift.

But more importantly if Martin doesn't lift on field the side will falter and Martin will leave, ironically because of his own failure - and Hardwick will get the sack.

"If players stop improving I'll leave." Hardwick has to coach Martin better than he has for the past fortnight.

Under the circumstances why would anyone think negatively of this?

He'd never do it but hypothetically, what would the outcome be if Dusty said I'll only stay if Hardwick goes?

if we go back to how Carr handled Cloke back whenever it was, he put his contact talks off until the end of year , then re
signed with collingwood .

While it doesnt mean too much, it gives me some hope , that he has history doing it that way.

I assume Dusty is waiting until the season has panned out and whether HE believes we are on the right track to play finals in 2017 and beyond. ( NB. No Buzz Lightyear jokes!)
