Dayle Garlett

Why wouldn't Hawthorn take him? Imagine Garlett being mentored by Cyril.

Perfect place for him. Hill, Anderson, Cyril and Garlett. Wow. That's some magic for the next decade.

I'd be happy with just one of those.

GC are also in the frame, imagine a midfield with Ablett, O'Meara, Bennell, Swallow, Prestia & Garlett.

My prediction is Garlett will be picked up between 20-40.
Could have been perfectly placed at our pick 28 which will be about 32 when the concessions are counted. Instead of a Garlett we have a Hamster, guessing we are a little gun shy regarding the loose cannons like saving Cuz or Taylor, Condog etc. Probably have enough on our plate keeping a low profile for Dusty.

Wonderful scenario for a club if they can channel an exuberant youngster onto the paths of righteousness. Public nightmare if it all goes wrong.

Wonder if we're looking to get back into the draft around that region? Would hope we are.
Only way I can see that happening is to swap pick 12 for saints 18 & 19 or giants 21 & 22.

Considering he wasn't drafted at all last year that is something of a risky proposition.
It's ok, I've got a spare one......

This is only heresay but there have been five clubs who have approached Garlett's management with an open mind to recruiting him. One of the clubs is Richmond.

What's our last pick? If he's still there then roll the dice.

My guess is we'd have to stitch him up with pick 50 (if he lasts that long).

Hawthorn are very interested so I doubt we'll get a shot, but I've heard he would be in contention at pick 50 if available. My prediction is Garlett will be picked up between 20-40.

I'm guessing here but around the 30 to 40 mark is about Dayle's spot this year. Quite a number of clubs aren't interested.

And some PREnders think Grigg is soft, won't chase, won't tackle etc but still want Garlett

Memo to recruiters - the list looks good, get a new muppet for the fans to hate.

I'm doubtful he has the defensive side to be able to play AFL

Would you take the punt Angus?

For what this draft has, our list, our needs and premiership window, he's a lock for me at 50 if there.

Be bold.

I reckon you are pretty close there BB40.

In the WAFL games I've seen Garlett does not get many handball receives either, which is a key indicator on willingness to gut run to advantage or from position towards space.

Perhaps an AFL environment could light the fuse, cos it really would be boom or bust for this kid if/when he illuminates the show.

A short career with glimpses of brilliance, or a solid career with some highlights. Certainly not a life membership proposition.

Poor man's Dusty... or rich man's Tambling ?

Perhaps Mitch Thorpe would be more of a solid choice at 50.

I wouldn't.

He will get picked but the club needs to have resources to manage him and have the ability to shut things down in the media.

The upside is that you get a top 10 talented player.
