David Astbury, Thank You

This bloke is emerging as a senior player. Shows on-field leadership.

Assuming a normal sort of scoreline today we will have the lowest points against in the league after 4 rounds. Astbury is a big part of that

At training this week it was he and Rance who were showing Kmac and Markov how to out body and reposition a forward. They were fantastic.

Most processions in a half of football with 12!

Showing great form and the promise given no 12.

Well done!

Does he get hogan next week?

Astbury takes the opposition's deep tall forward whoever that is.

Probably the one with an old book in his hand and a troubled look on his face, Gia.

I hope he smashes the *smile* walker in 2 weeks time.
P.s David, he loves to baulk to his right....

People forget that astbury played 17 games in his first season averaging 11 disposals and 3 marks before getting injured and hardwick falling in love with chaplin

Doubt that Dimma would have looked sideways at Chaplin if *smile* had stayed healthy.

From memory he missed nearly a year with a major knee problem, struggled for pace n mobility when he came back n then did another knee the following year n struggled again with his pace n mobility when he returned.
Last years efforts showed just how much footy he'd missed, even though he finally managed to play most games. He struggled with form, confidence, fitness, mobility and our disastrous game style, was steady without really showing much beyond his marking abilities.

This year the big *smile* is finally showing the matured ability everyone saw in his first year, looking to become a very solid n reliable key defender for us. Hope he finally gets a great run at it n has no more injury issues.

Went back to his all time clumsy best tonight. I lost count his many goals he cost us. Hogans 3 all came from him

Not his best game this year but wasn't getting much help from the kids..it was coming in pretty easy.

Like how we switched him forward for a bit. Provided some good contests up there
