The quality defenders these days are skinny talls. Mobile and quick

Yep compare Dave to somebody like Adams from the Dogs. It's chalk and cheese.

We have a real issue that I can see with foot speed at the drop of the ball. We can't carry guys like this if we're to be contenders.
 
Takes too long with the footy. Symptomatic of our play sometimes, too scared to make mistakes so we tense up and turn it over. Hardwick is striving for careful 100% disposal efficiency - impossible to achieve.

Again. Blaming the coach. Why?
Astbury thinks his Matera and has 3 hours to get rid of it. He is slow in motion as slow in decision making.
Takes a nice mark, but if it's a loose ball. God help us. In the first 3 games I've noticed his opponent starts to run him to all spots and Astbury hasn't got the tank, therefore is caught out many times.
He is just filing a spot today, won't be around if we ever contend

You are right, too many players are scared to make a mistake so over think and then make a mistake. Dimma and co have coached out all spontaneity out of the players so they are unable to think on the fly. Great players are instinctive ones and we have none.
 
I like Dave, think he's a solid one on one player. His disposal is ok but he does take too long with the ball.

I don't know what it is but I just see him as a loser (not personally). Every time he plays we struggle. Is it a coincidence?

He's a plodder, Bris. And still learning to plod better. The question is whether we can get away with him.

Hardwick's a *smile* liar. He said "can't kick won't play."

The team is full of spuds who can't kick.
