David Astbury, Thank You

Yep is a natural forward. I could personally not see his worth as a backman, always looked a yard off the pace and in the contests was actually doing things we need Jack to do.
He is a natural forward. I think he was initially recruited as one, that's certainly where he played his first game. However Hardwick says that they may play him forward if the situation allows it, but prefers him in defence. Really not surprising.

Have been saying for a long while that he should be played forward - I was at the game when he debuted and kicked his 3 and looked a natural forward.

On Saturday, when shifted he had a zing in his step, like a weight was lifted off his shoulders. His leading and work rate was very good.

lets not forget that he was leading our JD count last year when he succumbed to injury. He was playing the pivotal KPD role while doing so. He does have forward smarts but he's good down back as well.

I don't doubt he's a good backman. But a forward is much more valuable than a back.

Play him where he's most valuable, and that's forward.

for a few years we have complained we dont have a back who can play on the really big forwards. we find one who can and then everyone complains that he should be played up forward.

Every time I see this thread come up I expect to hear he's been bitten by a scorpion, hit by flying space junk, or had a weird allergic reaction to a sausage roll.

That's the sort of stuff you'd rather read in the Rance thread.

I think the majority have been spooked by what they saw in the first 10 minutes Saturday.

With Grimes coming back in this week clearly the plan is to play him forward.
That's ok but am a little concerned re the North tall forwards.
I hate the look of Grimes and Batchelor in defence.
Pray for rain I guess..

Perhaps you mean good bloke this player.

Not convinced.
yeah same

Hard to tell wether he will make it or not but prefer he plays CHB and Chaplin goes to the magoos.

Vickery or McJesus up forward with Griff and Reiwoldt. Pinch hit in the ruck.

Well it's snowing on Mt Wellington at the minute, so rain is a very real proposition. ;D

It's more the woeful lack of run we have as opposed to our ability to negate that's the concern down back Tooheys.

Yeah but it's an equal issue for mine against North. Lost count of how many times that prick Petrie has destroyed us in the air.
We really are their bunnies. They'll be very confident against us.

We've picked 5 tall backs. He's only need to bring it to ground for Thomas, Higgins, Nahas, Harvey & Co to mop up ahead of our slugs the way teams shape.

indeed.

Could be a great time to put Harvey and Higgins into the Supercoach team. :help
