Damien Hardwick

Interesting to see that the folks at FC seem to think that Hardwick's most notable achievement in football is his two flags as a player, and not leading a perennially under-achieving club out of the wilderness to three flags as coach.

Steve *smile* Hocking probably has a job moonlighting as a tv producer. Or maybe it’s one of his relatives.
Bloody dickheads

He seems to be very motivated and invested, theres times where ive felt especially last year it was all getting a little to much, granted its only round 2 but even during preseason he was upbeat and comes across energized, unless the wheels fall off totally this season or next couple i think he may stay for some time yet, also depends on new President and how long Benny hangs around (hopefully a very long time!!).

Like Dusty he owes us nothing, Legend of the club bringing a 37 year drought to an end.

The question is we herd Dimma say it was our longest pre season etc we worked on alot of new things, but last week I seen nothing much different loosing clearances, hardball , pressure and tackling not there skills , so is it bit of both personal not good enough or message not getting through.
more forward overlap from teague

And another as an assistant coach at Hawthorn... premierships follow him everywhere.
Yeah, I’ve mentioned this before but he’s played in flags at Tecoma as a kid, North under 19s, Essendon and Port, coached at Hawthorn for theirs and obviously our 3.

Saw Damien briefly on 7 News on Wednesday night.
He had the crash padding and was doing hip bumps with the players, time after time.
His dedication to our team is legendary.
He is shaping as one of the greatest coaches of the modern era, in all sport.

Tigers making King plans

Damien Hardwick confident Richmond can handle the threat posed by in-form Saint Max King

By AAP
1 April 2022

RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick says the threat posed by St Kilda spearhead Max King won't sway him from using swingman Noah Balta at the opposite end of the ground in their AFL clash.

Premiership defender Balta has impressed in attack this season, kicking six goals across the opening two rounds.

He combined well with Tom Lynch against GWS last week in the absence of veteran forward Jack Riewoldt, who has been named to return from a thumb injury against the Saints at the MCG on Sunday.

"We know what we've got with Noah down back but we wanted to see what he could be and we've really enjoyed what he's brought," Hardwick said.

"He's a powerful man, a great contested mark and he's a great kick at goal as well.

"At this stage we'll settle him down up forward for this week but that's not to say that in the upcoming weeks he won't swing down back at various stages."

King's dominant third-quarter showing against Fremantle last week was crucial in St Kilda claiming their first win of the season.

The 21-year-old, now in his third full season after injuries ruined his rookie year, booted four goals in a performance that made the rest of the competition take notice.

Balta is arguably the Tigers' best physical match-up for King but Hardwick will try his other options first.

"He's an incredible talent, Max. He's getting better and better every year we see him play," Hardwick said.

"But we're really confident with Robbie (Tarrant), Josh Gibcus and Dylan Grimes ... that one of those players will be able to fill the role and negate him as best they can.

"He's going to take some marks, he's going to kick some goals - that's what the very best players do.

"We've got to make sure we manage that as best we can and keep it to a relatively low total."

Riewoldt and Grimes, who missed last week because of soreness, both took part in the Tigers' light training session at Punt Road on Friday.

in his presser he says re Dusty there is no change to the last update and he will provide updated info when there is something to update

but when pressed he says they are keeping their cards close to their chest, won't even say if Dusty is training on this own or not

seems quite weird to me why he wouldn't say that, unless he doesn't know, in which case Dusty must really be keeping his distance from the club

Yeah, this is starting to become a bit of a mystery to me now. Something's obviously happened.

He's not going to give a running commentary on Dustin's activities because that would be insensitive to what he's going through.
