Damien Hardwick

Lot of if's and but's there.
Fair point, let me make it explicit. Our form since the bye last year has been crap - no IFS ANDS or BUTS. We've got a tough game against GWS this week and another against the Aints the next IF we lost all three that puts us in a tough place. AND it's the Dogs the next week.

BUT I hope I'm wrong.

Problem for Dimma is that our ageing champs have not been able to stay on the park. Unlike the ridiculed geriatrics at the cats that just keep performing at very high levels.

Succession planning discussions key from this point onwards....

The question is we herd Dimma say it was our longest pre season etc we worked on alot of new things, but last week I seen nothing much different loosing clearances, hardball , pressure and tackling not there skills , so is it bit of both personal not good enough or message not getting through.

It's hard to keep climbing the mountain after reaching the peak. No doubt the covid affected Premiership of 2020 took it's toll on many at our club.
We're at a challenging juncture in time that's for sure.
Get the feeling there will be a lot of departures at year's end if not before unless we turn things around pretty quickly this season.
Thinking the same thing

History says the fall is sharp. we are in decline. we all hope for one more - but not this year.

Hold fire. Carlton look good. This week will tell us plenty.

2 years of COVID, the threat of nuclear war, a rebuild period for our team ahead, our greatest player in the last 35 years about to retire and Carlscum looking good - I'm surprised their are brightsiders left. To those that remain well bloody done you're better than me.
All pointing to the approaching apocalypse
Plague, War, rumours of Dusty retiring, carlscum beating us. How much more to come?

Well they reckon there's four horsemen originally, Plague, War, Dusty retiring n Carlscum atop the ladder. If you wanna go for more then there's claims that the fifth one is us. Not sure what us Tiger fans ever did to be deemed as an apoxylisp, but if it means we're fairly feral, ugly, mean n nasty to oppo clubs I'll take it.

What's our story this year?

I remember seeing this group win without Dusty, Jack, Rance, and Cotchin when injuries hit in early 2019. Their attitude was outstanding all week, they just wanted to win so badly after missing out in 2018.

Injuries give teams an out, mentally. If you don't really want to put yourself through the stress of giving everything to win, then you'll accept the path of least resistance. And now, the other clubs can smell blood, so they approach our match as their Grand Final every week. That raises the following questions:

What are they fighting for in 2022? What's the meaning of it all?

Dimma's messaging over the next 24 hours will offer an insight into the club's mindset for this season. If we aren't 100% desperate to contend for a premiership this year for whatever reason, then maybe, just maybe their subconscious mind will prefer to rule themselves out early to lower expectations and take off the stress.

Motivation isn't an issue whatsoever when you're on the verge of fulfilling a 10-year club narrative. This group fully completed the impossible 10-year goal of winning 3 flags by 2020. After 2019, it still felt like they had unfinished business because everyone knew about 3-0-75 and the 3 flags by 2020. A small, deep part of their psyche surely would've felt like a failure if they dropped away after 2019. A long-term club narrative is an important factor that can affect motivation on a deeper level.

People are motivated by stories. Teams are motivated by a shared sense of purpose with depth. Our 10-year story ended with a fairytale in 2020. We'll learn more about the club's current story in the coming weeks.

Back to Back Go Deez Flags, which will have the media jerking themselves into comas and saying they are the best ever with their Deeemonsty.

Sheesh-ka-bab.............we're a round in...............lets everyone not get sucked into the meedja narrative. I have to say though..........those Carlscum supporters are a touch cockier than we were I'm sure!

Well written 123.
It’s time for the club to close the book on 17-20 and start writing the next chapter. IMO that needs to include looking at a new coach at the end of Dimma’s current contract. Been awesome but time to start afresh. Tell Dimma his main goal is to start building the next era

Hardwick?

He’ll go when he wants to go.

Untouchable.

I just wanna see a skilled next generation coming through.

As of November 2021, they most certainly are.

Hardwick is untouchable due to what he has done. I’m looking for him to bring through the next wave of talent with the players having fun and enjoying their footy.

If we can bring through some players that show we have depth we will still win enough games to make finals.

Interesting to see that the folks at FC seem to think that Hardwick's most notable achievement in football is his two flags as a player, and not leading a perennially under-achieving club out of the wilderness to three flags as coach.
