Damien Hardwick

Sometimes I wonder whether these people in the media actually think before they talk.

A lot of AFL media hacks shoot their mouth off before thinking, it's almost a pre-requisite of the job.
Unfortunately their are very few good journalists in the AFL area.

I think we should stick with Dimma if he wants to be here for the next five or six years. With the lack of quality kids coming through and no first rounder this year I think it will take at least that long to contend again. If he doesn't want that then it's probably time to shake hands and move on after this season.

The club probably thought we could be in the windows for a long time like the Cats have, but that is clearly not the case. It is going to have to be a Hawthorn under Sam Mitchell type rebuild. The problem is though if you stuff your draft picks up you are in the wilderness for a long time.

yeah he sprung to mind, but

was he sacked?

poached doesn't count

I think stepping out of footy, and returning counts. which maybe Lethal did?

tigers probably are no.1 in the league for sacked senior coaches as assistants over the last decade?

Id certainly give Leppa another crack - think he'd be great at GCS

Matthews was effectively sacked after having an affair with a players wife.

Figgy would be a downgrade on Dimma and similar money.......no thanks. We need a development coach

I can't see how he is rated soo highly. Took over a top 4 side destroyed them in 3 yrs and fluked a GF on the back of an American and 2 yrs later the players gave up and wanted him gone.
He was also part of the group that traded in Treloar and Beams and forced them to negotiate to keep Grundy. Which instigated the salary cap dramas.
We don't want him and we don't need him.
He once said to me "How do you still support that club"

Barassi (Carlton to North), Matthews (Collingwood to Brisbane), Blight (Geelong to Adelaide) Parkin (Hawthorn to Carlton), Jeans (St Kilda to Hawthorn) Walls (Fitzroy to Carlton) and Malthouse (West Coast to Collingwood) all had premiership success at their second (third in Malthouse case) club coached.

Not to be a Buckley defender, all those player deals which ultimately led to the salary cap dump was done by Gubby Allen with Eddie’s imprimatur. Hopefully it comes out one day but Gubby Allen almost destroyed Pies with his ridiculous list management.
Can assure you Buckley would have had very limited input into any of those deals/trades.

So Matthew Lloyd claims maybe we should look at moving on Hardwick and pay half the amount we are paying Hardwick and get a development coach. The left over money then spent on more assistant coaches.

Sounds reasonable. But Hardwick has already proven he is a development coach. He coached a team that was labeled worse than Fitzroy to three flags.

Sometimes I wonder whether these people in the media actually think before they talk.
Pretty clear why they are in the media & not in Club land

Yep. He's going nowhere. I loved the way he spoke in the presser especially mentioning what we're building for the short term and also for the long term. Showed no signs of nerves or spin. Media can f*ck their negative narratives up their arse!!

I love the way he said that those alleging he has lost the players should say it to his face. The tone said as much as the words. Great work Dimma, sounds like the passion is definitely still there.

Also said he owed it to Hopper and Taranto to ensure Richmond is the place he expects it to be

Sure is, and both ways. Players still love him. Agree with the Hop and Taz part saying he feels sorry they had to walk into a sh!t performing team quickly. I can't see or don't want any other coach in my team now. Extend his contract.

Agree and l like a Dimma with his back to the wall - he will die fighting for this club and the players.

Dimma is also a development coach - he adopts a teaching style and you couldn’t get a perennial bottom 4 side to the mountain and stay there for 4 years if you weren’t - so Lloyd as usual has no fing idea.

Finally, I was in the boat where I thought we could do a cats and stay competitive for ever. What I overlooked is that the cats kept falling over at the pointy end of the season, so their motivation kept growing over the years, each year they had something to prove. For the tigers, they reached the top 3 times over 4 years which is an extraordinary accomplishment - to expect this squad to keep building their motivation to be absolutely at their peak was on my behalf, a tad unrealistic in hindsight.

So I sit back and reflect, would you like 3 flags over 4 years or 2 flags 11 years apart but play finals in most of those intervening years.

The media are fked.
We just won 3 flags
Wc won a flag
Hawthorn has won 3533 in my life time.
Go after Stkilda or Port Adelaide
