You can only coach what you have, coaching like a millionaire with a two dollar side accept the reality. Remember the instructions to Tuck "see ball get ball"So we have to develop a game style that suits very dumb, erratic, inexperienced, unfit players? Very interesting, I think I like it. Dimma will have earn't his pay if he can pull that off!
Would have no problem at all with Buckley being our next coach. Had a very good stint at Pies despite not winning a flag. With a few years off to reflect on what he did good/bad he would be IMO a sensational coach 2nd time around.
Young, Sonsie, Clarke, Bauer, Gibcus, Cumberland, Rioli Jr. Yes it has been a couple of rough weeks for them. I like out spine list and believe we can build around that in the next 3 years. Looking forward to seeing Brown and Banks as well.Amazing he mentioned “ merging talent “ . Who ? Apart from Samson Ryan are “ emerging talent “ is ordinary with poor skills . Juddy Clarke misses targets majority of time
Lyold seriously he struggles to put a sentence together. So Matthew Lloyd claims maybe we should look at moving on Hardwick and pay half the amount we are paying Hardwick and get a development coach. The left over money then spent on more assistant coaches.
Sounds reasonable. But Hardwick has already proven he is a development coach. He coached a team that was labeled worse than Fitzroy to three flags.
Sometimes I wonder whether these people in the media actually think before they talk.
Me either oldie.I swear some people in the media just want to get rid of Hardwick from Tigerland purely because he's a proven triple Premiership coach.
They love a feeding frenzy & are smelling blood. It's round 7. We made finals just last year.
I made the mistake of wanting to oust Dimma back in 2016. Fortunately those in a better position to know stuck fat & made the wiser decision.
3 flags later..
Won't be falling into that same trap again.
In Dimma I trust.
Can confirm the Cara comment, been that way for years.Had a look through the assistant coaches at each club last night. There’s not a lot of stand outs in my mind. Caracalla maybe one of the best of them, but I keep hearing he’s a quiet, corner of the room sort of guy that likes to focus on tactics more so than direct coaching and leading of a large group of people.
I think he'd be way better the second time around.
very good one one with the kids.
I really like Buckley - but in the media only I think. Can confirm the Cara comment, been that way for years.
I'm not as down on Buckley as everyone else, I think he'd be way better the second time around. Nigel Lappin has huge wraps on him, I'm inquisitive about what he wants the next five years to look like. Apparently very good tactically and very good one one with the kids.

not a rhetorical question,
can you name any who performed better post sacking/successioning?
there is a pretty long list of greats who went 2 clubs and 20 years too long.
I think you have to play the % on some things, and I suspect this is one.
I hope Ross Lyon becomes an exception this year.
if Dimma does coach somewhere else, Id be really really surprised if he has the energy and originality to scale the mountain again.
but I can see him doing it at Richmond.
Leigh Matthews
Malthouse at Collingwood after West Coast too. Went as well as he did at West Coast.Leigh Matthews
Agree with all that. Except Ross Lyon was better in the media.I really like Buckley - but in the media only I think.
He's always been an articulate and clear and common sense person who doesn't dish out the cliches or talk in circles. Probably the most interesting coach (ex) to listen to I reckon. But I think he got wound up a bit tight as a coach.
I heard from several people inside of Cwood that he was absolutely obsessed, drove the players crazy with endless meetings and instructions. A few players have hinted as much as well.
Maybe he might have learnt from that. He's certainly more relaxed in the media, sense of humour comes through etc. But I'm not sure he's the sort of animal that can maintain that sort of perspective in a competitive environment as a head coach of an AFL team. Sort of see him as being overtly wedded to Cwood as well and dunno if he's capable of making the separation like most other coaches can.
We're talking about Ross now ?Agree with all that. Except Ross Lyon was better in the media.
