This is what happens when you play too many kids and they don't have support around them. No choice. It is what it is.weird last night but what can you do when the cupboard is not necessarily bare, but you are down to the emergency brands at the back of the shelf?
Jeepers a touch hyperbolic there sinWhen things are not going well I am always amazed at how quickly judgements are made.
“Player A is no good “
“Player x will never make it, a bust”
“Stupidest player in the game”
Some of our best players get suggested tor the trade table
Trades we did get written off
Our coaches are garbage
We are a team in transition, Dimma has said that more than once this season. Whether it will work or not in the longer term who knows, but clearly there is a plan.
With all due respect to those posting I tend to ignore the hyperbole, especially when it is about young players and whether they will develop or not. We so often forget that player development is not the same for every player.
It’s the same with trades and whether they are worthwhile.
Have a read of the game thread last nightJeepers a touch hyperbolic there sin
I agree David. However, our problems post the Hafey departure debacle and subsequent head scratching decisions post 1982 were as a result of instability and out of control egos at boardroom level (ergo, GR). I still maintain that we have the most professional, selfless and stable off field set up that continues to be the envy of the competition and a blueprint to follow. We’re in a great place to reset for future success
Love your reference to Sammy Lloyd - and that goal after the siren - but mainly because it shows where we’ve come from.A couple of observations from last night's game.
Firstly it made me appreciate more than ever how important Lambert, Edwards and Grigg were to our recent success.
Secondly I saw true leadership last night from Jack in the forward line and in the backline I thought Dan Rioli gave it a crack.
We are seriously missing leadership in the midfield imo. Dion and Baker blazing away the new guys trying to get into the game ( I think Hopper does show composure a la in the Josh Caddy vein), but overall we need leadership to pull the likes of Bolton into line.
I want to see players like Ralphsmith given a little talking to before taking a set shot for goal. ( Who can forget Griffiths ( of 5 majors that night) running over to say a few words to Sam Lloyd for the kick after the bell 2016)?
I think too many players are looking inwards at the own games. As Hardwick says we are a side in transition, time for the old heads to compose the new boys, even the Tarantos and Hoppers.
Dusty to the middle as much as possible.
Blurb over!
Oh yes, we are in a far better position off field than we were then. The world and football were changing and the powers that be at Richmond were not adapting.
I think one saving grace we currently have is the club and the way it has picked itself off the ground and turned into a very capable organisation. That took a long time because we were in such a parlous state, but it also took very good people to see the issues and fix them.
We can be back without bottoming out and the off-field organisation will have a lot to do with it.
I was a kid but I still remember losing Hafey and to this day cannot believe it happened.
DS
Bottom 3. Sixteenthmond. We will be bottom 4 after this round - hopefully that is our bottoming out…….
But agree with you, as a club we are a much more balanced and even temperament culture.
Hardwick is showing that at the moment - on the surface anyway he is showing good restraint in trying times.
Then you are seeing what you want to see. The guy knows what needs to be done.just saw the presser.
Hardwick looks tired and out of answers. right now.
lol nice pointless drivelThen you are seeing what you want to see. The guy knows what needs to be done.
To me he looked like a coach who was completely pissed off with the arrogance and laziness of some players.
But of course, you probably know more than a three time premiership coach.
Our list is better on paper buy its old and very tired.Do you think Essendon has a better list than us? What about St.Kilda or Adelaide? No?
I don’t either, this to me is a coaching problem more than anything. Game plan and structure seems well off. Wonder what the game plan is sometimes. No plan B’s C’s or D’s, very one dimensional. Dimma and the crew need to coach to what we’ve got on the park. Effort and intent of the players could lift too.

Is that your take after Friday nights presser - or perhaps from one from around mid-season 2017?
Pretty sure you were leading the charge on the sack Dimma campaign in 2016, nowlol nice pointless drivel
