Maybe if you hadn't been totaly spaced last year Ace you might have noticed how he went in the brownlow voting.SpaceAce said:I love Richo but I have noticed him slowing down considerably in the last year and a half.
I'm pretty sure SEN cut off the press conference before Hardwick made the comment about Richo still being one of the top 2 or 3 on the list even at 34 years old and that at Hawthorn he was the first player they planned for.Total Tiger said:Just posted on another thread but Hardwick's press conf left me thinking that Richo is gone

personally i dont believe hardwick should have the say in who stays and who goes. a say yes but the sole judge no.

Total Tiger said:Rumour file on 3AW says Cuz and Richo gone. I hope not just because of their age. Richo should be about injuries and Cuz has done nothing wrong this year. Rebuilding takes a few years. I think there are other players to be culled this year before those two (providing Richo is injury-free).
Yep, he said he'd talk to Richo and the medicos about Richo going on.NZ Tiger said:The fact that Hardwick stated that he thought Richo was still in the Clubs best 2 or 3 players at age 34, suggested to me that he was very likely to retain Richo for season 2010.
There are plenty of other duds on the list that will offer very little in either 2010 or thereafter and these players will go before Richo does. Atleast you know that Richo will be competitive and will give his all and even at age 34, will have 3 of the oppositions best players on him to try and stop his influence.
Unless the medicos indicate that his body will not take it any more, Richo is almost certain to stay based on my interpretation of Hardwicks comments.

Selective editing I know Rosa Maria but I agree.rosy23 said:I don't think there's any way he'll be delisted.
I reckon we'll see the big fella out there next year.

If Richo has a good medical report I don't think there's any way he'll be delisted. If his body isn't up to the rigours of AFL then I hope Richo retires happily and by his own choice (and I'll hide in my bedroom and cry)
I reckon we'll see the big fella out there next year.
Geez barnsy that scared me when I first read it, I thought you had written"EXCITING older players".Barnzy said:Yeah, it will be an interesting preseason indeed. He will probably go around one more time but too be honest, I just don't see the logic. In complete rebuild mode, new coach, lots of exiting older players, he could go out now as a champion of the game or push for another year and possible wind up being on the sidelines the whole year or struggle and ruin his reputation within the game. This, on top of the fact we will struggle to move out of the bottom 4 next year so it will be another dismal year so I don't see the joy he gets out of it. Won't bother me too much if he goes around again and it would be good to farewell him properly but I am of the opinion he shouldn't go on and his time is up. Just my views, don't have to agree with them.
