Curtains for Richo?

Although he is on the veterans list, his retirement would leave us with even more significant room in the salary cap.

I like the idea of a Richo, Morton, Riewoldt, Nahas, Post forward line though.

I love Richo but I have noticed him slowing down considerably in the last year and a half.
Maybe if you hadn't been totaly spaced last year Ace you might have noticed how he went in the brownlow voting.
The big fella's had a *smile* year with injury this year.
Considering his entire slary could be on the vets list next year and outside the cap if necessary a one year extension wouldn't hurt.
We've got more than enough never will be's in need of culling that we don't need to push Richo out this year.
Would expect Richo and Cuz to get another year.
Simmo and Browny to follow Joel and Toad into retirement.
Petts, Cogs, Sarge, Raines, Polly and hopefully Sanchez are probably in strife plus a raft of young guys as well that haven't looked like grabbing senior spots.
Richo and Cuz over thirties that can be eased any time in the future.
Newy and Moore and ??? mid to late twenties players then there's a bunch of under 23's left to form the core of the side.
Gawd there's a shocking hole in our 24 to 28 year old prime age players

Just posted on another thread but Hardwick's press conf left me thinking that Richo is gone
I'm pretty sure SEN cut off the press conference before Hardwick made the comment about Richo still being one of the top 2 or 3 on the list even at 34 years old and that at Hawthorn he was the first player they planned for.

Would love to see Richo and Cousins stay on, but don't forget when Malcolm Blight went to Adelaide he made some drastic cuts..................if the same is done now, who knows?

Rumour file on 3AW says Cuz and Richo gone. I hope not just because of their age. Richo should be about injuries and Cuz has done nothing wrong this year. Rebuilding takes a few years. I think there are other players to be culled this year before those two (providing Richo is injury-free).

didn't they also say Hinkley was in the bag?

Any questions regarding Matthew, please follow link. ;)

The fact that Hardwick stated that he thought Richo was still in the Clubs best 2 or 3 players at age 34, suggested to me that he was very likely to retain Richo for season 2010.

There are plenty of other duds on the list that will offer very little in either 2010 or thereafter and these players will go before Richo does. Atleast you know that Richo will be competitive and will give his all and even at age 34, will have 3 of the oppositions best players on him to try and stop his influence.

Unless the medicos indicate that his body will not take it any more, Richo is almost certain to stay based on my interpretation of Hardwicks comments.

Yep, he said he'd talk to Richo and the medicos about Richo going on.
I think Hardwick would respect and appreciate the fact that Richo puts it all on the line for his club, plays with pride in the jumper. I think he's not the "ordinary run of the mill" over 35.
Medical pass, good chance for another year, given also that he's stated we need to strengthen the forward line and back line (..middle, guts and sides, everywhere)

The fact he said there's no sentiment in football when discussing Richo indicates to me there will be a few unhappy Tiger fans in a month or so. I think Richo's career is over. I don't even know if Ben Cousins career is safe. It will be sad but do what you need to do Dimma, you've got my full support..... for now.

I'll be very interested to see how Damien's actions reflect on that comment.  I don't expect too many surprises simply because our list is so ordinary and only so many players can be moved on.

If Richo has a good medical report I don't think there's any way he'll be delisted.  If his body isn't up to the rigours of AFL then I hope Richo retires happily and by his own choice (and I'll hide in my bedroom and cry)

I reckon we'll see the big fella out there next year.

Selective editing I know Rosa Maria but I agree.
I got the impression from hearing Hardnut speak that Richo will stay as well as this year's Messiah - Cuz

Yeah, it will be an interesting preseason indeed. He will probably go around one more time but to be honest, I just don't see the logic. In complete rebuild mode, new coach, lots of exiting older players, he could go out now as a champion of the game or push for another year and possibly wind up being on the sidelines the whole year or struggle and ruin his reputation within the game. This, on top of the fact we will struggle to move out of the bottom 4 next year so it will be another dismal year so I don't see the joy he gets out of it. Won't bother me too much if he goes around again and it would be good to farewell him properly but I am of the opinion he shouldn't go on and his time is up. Just my views, don't have to agree with them.

Keep Cuz, Let Richo go.
Cuz is selfless, Richo let's the whole team know that they aren't good enough.

Geez barnsy that scared me when I first read it, I thought you had written"EXCITING older players".

Richo will stay IMO. Hardwick has already said he says Richo as being in the top 3-4 players on the list.

Would not suprise me now if Cousins did get traded though.

funny how things are read differently. Despite the in top 2 or 3 players line richo may be in strife. Only our plethera of duds will save him.

Doubt he will be sacked, after a chat with hardwick a retirement is more likely.
