I see the Aussies sent Johnson home. ::) I guess they saw enough in those 4 wickets the other night.

And his replacement is doing well today vs the W.I.

Clark, Stuart: Overs - 7 Maidens - 0 Runs - 87 Wickets - 0 R/100 - 167.31 :-[

At least Hussey had the good sense to finally take Clark off. Unlike Ponting who hung Mick Lewis out to dry in South Africa earlier this year, effectively ending his international career.

I see in a recent poll Hussey was seen as the next preferred captain to succeed Whinger.
Can't happen too soon and should we lose the Ashes series on home soil the knives will be sharpened.

Correct Morris Garage.

The great man lost his Australian contract due to that debacle :(

He has however Im ashamed to report, much to the mirth of his mates, switched camps from Northcote to Melbourne CC this year!

Fancy a Heidelberg scumbag playing for those silvertails!
:rofl

Re: Cricket

Whinger AGAIN :spin potentially in hot water for having stern words with with umpire Mark Benson over a reversal of a decision to give out Sachin Tendulkar. Awaiting the match officials meeting to decide whether he will be punished. :p

Re: Cricket

Well
After a very pleasant beginning to the cricket season, I'm saddened to relate to you all the possible end of Australia's dominance of international cricket.

Greg Chappell is being heavily pushed as the next Australian cricket coach.
I don't know anyone, in recent times around the world, with a WORSER record.

Whether it be Qld, Sth Aust, India or whoever, no one has created such disharmony or achieved such poor results as Greg Chappell.

A great batsman, yes.
As captain, or coach, Greg Chappell has been a major disappointment.

I think he just said he had too much else going on Michael Bevan64. Nothing too controversial.
I know he said that ToO,but I'm far from convinced.

Mentioned on radio this morning Cricket Aust aren't happy with Border being involved with beach cricket that is sponsored by xxxx as Cricket Aust have an arrangement with Carlton.Border probably told them to get nicked & I can hardly blame him.Its not as is Cricket Aust are paying him a fortune.

Re: Cricket

I think Greg Chappell would be an unlikely candidate Phantom due to not being popular with Cricket Australia and that he never stays more in the one spot more than a couple of years.

I think long Tom Moody would be favourite or Tim Nielson (Nielson low profile may count against him)
Other candidates may be
Jamie Siddons who hyas worked with the team
and Bennett King current WI coach
Dav Whatmore would probably be seen as past his best

Maybe my old favourite player John Dyson (ex Sri Lanka coach) may be considered !!
Rixon would be an unpopular choice as with Trevor Chappell.

One from leftfield may be Allan Border, while I think Steve Waugh wants to spend more time with family and Justin Langer will coach once retired as he has done some coaching at the academy (but then again so has Richard Chee Quee)

Re: Cricket

DOMESTIC UPDATE

QLD punished TAS in the opening Ford Ranger Game, winning by 9 wickets with Hayden getting 90 odd. Also Currently WA is looking the goods v VIC with VIC needing 133 runs with exactly 20 overs left and 5 wickets. And on first day of Pura cup game OLD v TAS Tas took opening day honurs bowling QLD out for bout 200. Bit less

Re: Cricket

Ahktar and Asif both sent home from the Champions trophy for each failing a drug test

Curious to see if the ICC grow some balls for this matter for a change.

Apparently the ICC are going to raise the permitted level of steroids in the system to .01% greater than whatever Akhtar and Asif tested at.

I was going to post a "LOL" but as I thought about the ICC's track record it occurred to me that they may actually do that. :-\

It will be a monty that a Pakstani cricketer will be cleared of any wrong doing.

Re: Cricket

We may be too harsh on the Pakis. It seems it was their own testing, and their own decision to send the players home - not the ICC.

Contrast that to the Aussies - we would cover it up at all costs and make poxy excuses.

Re: Cricket

Pakistani Cricket have no guidelines for their cricketers testing positive and have said they will be putting some in place.
