Gillespie 63no, he's a run scoring machine, Hussey 38no 3-268 the Aussies.
Can Dizzy get a ton?? It'll be bloody slow if he does, 230 balls for 63.

He isnt a front line batsman BW so that might explain the slowness ;) He is doing the job so far though. He might just be trying to make a statement to the selectors that he can bowl and BAT a bit.....now excuse me whilst i go and hide from a tirade from the likes of MB.... :hihi :hihi

Re: Cricket

Gillespie 75 no.
He does the night watchman job & supports the recognised batsman as well as any lower order player going around. He's got plenty of guts, and puts a price on his wicket. Others could take a leaf from his book.

Re: Cricket

Dizzy now on 90 no  Aussies 330 fa 3 with rain lookin not too far away over there again...

Re: Cricket

Gillespie only the third nightwatchman in the history of Test cricket to make a century. Gillespie also breaks the record for the number of balls faced by a nightwatchman. In fact he has smashed the old record of 195 balls set by Eddie Hemmings in making 95 -- thus far Gillespie has faced 300 deliveries.

So what he done a job that was required ready, no fuss, just doing the job asked of him - no more, no less. Great job by the guy.

Nasim-ul-Ghani Pakistan v. England, Lord's 1962
AL Mann Australia v. India, Perth, 1977-78

Not counting Syed Kirmani (India) and Mark Boucher (South Africa) as they were effectively wicketkeepers promoted in the order.

Not bagging him, just pointing out how long he's hung around.
Agree, long innings but good effort against ordinary attack.

Although a good innings, it says a lot more about Bangladesh than it does Gillespie.

Despite their efforts in the first test against a weary Aussie side, it's an absolute joke that they are considered a test cricket nation.

Yes, I remember that Mann innings. It was in the 2nd test in Perth which was his home ground. It was about the only thing that Mann did in the side until he was dropped for the 5th & final test to make way for Bruce Yardley.
