Whoever you pick in your top 3 they will be better than Moeen. Whilst I like Moeen, playing him at 3 is IMO 1 not paying respect to the opposition and 2 disrespecting the batsmen playing in the counter championships that could come in and perform. Its almost like Stokes is saying, I want Moeen in the team and we will find a spot for him, oh Pope got injured, he can just bat there. Will be cannon fodder at the top of the order IMO.

Yeah, quite happy that Moeen and Anderson are playing this test.

Warner will play.

Crash Craddock made a reasonably good case for him I admit.

Halfway through an away tour it’s difficult to drop experienced guys, veterans you gotta sit next to on the team bus.

Warner will live or die by the next two tests. How he performs will dictate whether he gets to say goodbye in Sydney at all.

And I’m fine with that. I also like Spook’s idea of batting deep, batting long. Heard the pitch is flatter than Headingley.

Heaps of rain the past 10 days.

Slow.

Hence England will possibly bring in Anderson.

I would bring in Green as well.

He’s playing! We,re going in 1 bat down. Although I think he,ll eke 2 moderate scores so he can play the last test.

Australia XI: David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins (c), Josh Hazlewood

I don’t mind the 5 man pace attack as long as they don’t continue the unnecessary short stuff.

Q: what do you say to an upstart team 2-1 down but with momentum on a flat home deck?

A: we’re gonna bat you out of the game.

I just hope we can bat time.
We only need a draw.
Onus is on Ketchup and Egg Yolk to make the running.
We need to play Ashes Ball.
Let's hope Maaarnnuss is awake for this Test.
Looked thoroughly asleep in the last one.
Don't mind the look of Green and The Bison in the same side.
Made no sense playing Harry Potter in last game if they weren't going to use him.

They have selected to strengthen the batting and hoping for a big first innings display.

There has been enough break in between tests and there is no excuse for players ‘asleep’.

Been a long time we have gone in without a spinner, but if you don’t bowl the player, or don’t have faith, or fearful he will leak too many runs, I was always confident Green would come in for the young spinner.

Going for win. Worse case a draw.

Depends on the weather on what England ( how quick they chase runs ).

Can’t wait for tonight!

I understand why they did it but I just don't like the look of two genuine all-rounders. It reeks of a struggling team trying to squeeze more jack-of-all-trades player into the team at the expense of specialists. Mid 80s stuff.
Neser for Hazlewood might have seen the skipper at #11. Is it too cynical to suggest that's why they didn't do it?

Tend to agree. Although Cummins barely bowled Murphy so not much point in playing him
