Cricket

Jimmy gets a tickle down the leg side, caught behind, kiwis win by 1 run, good catch by Blundell, he had a good test match.

What about the follow on..........................

Wagner the luckiest man in New Zealand. Bowled tripe. Stupid tripe. Number 11 facing. Hit the *smile* stumps.

Bloody umpires!! How can you not give a wide when it goes a foot over the batsmans head. They did a side on of that delivery before the wicket and it was a foot over his head.

Should have had that tie that you mention.
Agree.

Wagner has last laugh on the PRE brethren 4-62 and match winner in the last innings. :D

Great to see the Poms lose like that

Great test match, but Stokes needs to come out and tell the English fans why they decided to follow on. It seemed a strange and poor decision at the time and appears even more so now.

It was a close run thing! His style is naked aggression, it been lauded and rightly so, live by the sword die by the sword.

Or in the great words of David St Hubbins, there is a fine line between genius and stupidity.

Thoughts on the follow on?

Wrong decision and thought so at the time. All the talk was that days 3 and 4 would be the best to bat on, and we have a few older bowlers (Broad and Anderson) that would have appreciated the rest. We could have batted in that 3rd innings, get the target for the kiwis, upto something like 600 and let scoreboard pressure do its thing. If they chase that down, then fair play to them. I was expecting to bat them into submission and then give us maybe 4 sessions to bowl them out at the end of Day 4 and into Day 5.

They should have been aggressive with the bat again, and try and bat NZ into submission in the 3rd innings. Its hard to be too critical of Stokes as he has done so much right in the last 9-12 months, but thats the worst decision he has made as captain and has resulted in a loss.

BTW - what was Jack Leach doing? Batting for the draw? :rotfl2

Agree, Anderson is 40 and Broad 36, a tough ask.

Great test match pitch. Gave assistance to the seam bowlers throughout, spun quite a lot on day 4 and 5 but the spinners on both teams not good enough to exploit it.
Good pitches = good tests. Not that rubbish we are getting in India.
I know the conditions are very different but we must prepare pitches for 5 days cricket as long as test matches are scheduled for 5 days!

Let it go Sin

Just watching the SA vs WI test match here . Been a good days test cricket . However there looks like there are only about 50 ppl there :( .. Which is sad as they got good crowds in SA for the recent SA vs Eng ODI series . Guess mark South Africa as another country not interested in test cricket anymore sadly .

*smile* me dead. Rohit gets a thin edge to the first ball of the match off Starc. Given not out and the review-happy Aussies didn't review despite appealing. Then an LBW shout turned down a couple of balls later. No review, also out.
