Cricket

The Kiwi's won the toss and bowled in the 1st test against the Poms at Mount Maunganui.

The Poms are continuing to play attacking cricket which is so refreshing from the boring cricket they used to always play.

England 1/77, Duckett is 57 of 38 balls.

I want to see batsman using their feet.
Yes Jazz, but they need to get to the pitch of the ball.
Marnu's tried using his feet too.
Didn't work out so well.
It was so well bowled it drew him forward and when he missed it he looked like a goose.

Went into the match with the wrong personnel.
Dropping Head for a spud like "Renners" is a total head scratcher.
Yes his previous sub continent form was not great but deserved a go before Renshaw.
Not sold on him at all.
It was almost as if they awarded him his promotion of the back of that big bash chase against The Melbourne Spuds, oops, Stars! My bad.

Now they are saying Starc is just about in for Delhi.
I love Starcy but not sure he is too effective over there.
Maybe getting a gig for his reverse swing and to scuff up the area around right hander's off stump which would help Gazza The Goat (lol!).
He couldn't bowl that badly again, surely.
Was Cummo's worst bowling innings!
Need more out of the openers, the quicks and Lyon.
And hopefully Smudger can hold his catches.

Zero positives outside of the debutant.
Well done, Todd.

Really not sure what the best make up of the side is.
Also prob not ideal for Smudge, Head, Marn, The Peoples Person in Muzz, Carey, etc to come off the Aussie tests into BBL for 2 weeks.
Then jump on a plane for more Red ball cricket to be played on Bunson Burning, spitting wickets!

End of my rant.

Yeh I did note it aint easy to 2 spinners who are great at home, fast through the air and suited to those home decks.

But we will get the same result if blokes stay anchored in their creases and try to play from the crease or off the back foot.

Fascinated in the teams response to that debacle.

Nonsense Whateley has travelled from Superbowl to India for the 2nd Test. Who's paying for this? What a paradise this bloke's got. I reckon he'll be in London in May for the FA Cup.

Not just the attacking approach to batting, but that declaration last night was as aggressive as they come. I think I heard it was the 2nd earliest declaration in test cricket. Very bold decision (much like he did in Pakistan) as he was adamant England would be having a crack in the night session and ended up with 3 wickets. 5 down now with not a lot more than 80 on the board.

Yep, with the pink ball in the final session it was the perfect time to bowl.

They were 9 down with a 58-year-old career bunny to come, and the conditions were perfect for bowling. It's hardly Bradman and Gubby Allen declaring on the sticky wicket of 36/37 (Bradman declared at 9/200, then Allen declared at 9/76).

Yeh, only a pom would call it aggressive as they come. It was exactly what 99% of teams would do.

What is inarguable is how great the Poms attacking mindset and style of cricket is.

Sounds like mass confusion on who's in today. Nonsense Whateley sounds like he's making things up.....

Maxi has been named in the shield side, just has to get through his Fitzroy-Doncaster game this weekend. It's been 3 & 1/2 years since he's played shield cricket.

No Green or Starc - still out injured. Kuhnemann debuts. Cummins the only pace bowler.

Interesting selections.

Head takes Renshaws place.

Important toss to win again and won it. Helps with selections bowling last.

Good Luck to Showtime.
Hopefully he don't attend any barbys beforehand.
And if he does, Maxi, leave the chasey for the seven year olds!
