Lyon's match figures so far: 50 overs, 18 maidens, 4 for 98. Not sure what people want from an off-spinner.

Outstanding figures against this crack England line up :)) , nothing against Lyon , however why do we have to have him hold up one end , every single time we are in this situation, not saying it’s not generally the best way , however why not have someone , even head or Smith roll there arm over from the Lyon end , it’s not like he has them in tangles

I'll file that with the "could Chol play on the wing" suggestions.

Because Lyon is our specialist spinner. That’s what he’s there to do. It’s a problem England have. Leach wasn’t good enough, so now they have to (over)use Root to do that role. Having said that, Marnus has had a crack recently.

I understand that CTT , and I know it must sound like I’m not giving Gazza the credit he deserves, however I’ll stand corrected but it’s not like he rips through the order each time an yes I understand the pressure building , however imho it’s back to my old argument that he’s very good not great ( irrelevant of what type of bowler he is he goes at 33 runs per wicket) , and that’s why personally I think at times others should be bowling from his end , I’m sure we’d have a similar amount of success , I’m not saying he should be replaced , I just think he holds up one end for too long to often . Very happy to admit I’m just a casual observer and not a cricket expert in anyway .

Not been a smartarse but am I right saying none of the TV guys had him in the top 3 spinners in the world atm ?

Bad few days for Joe Root indeed.

But not as bad as a certain 15 mintute period for poor Roshan Mahanama at the WACA (The old fast and bouncey WACA), in a day nighter after copping two tracer bullet off cutters into the nuts in a row from none other than Curtly Ambrose in full menace from memory, the second blow shattering his box protector and resulting in Roshan off to hospital.

Will never forget it .................................. and I'm sure neither will Roshan.

I had a bloke from local footy walk into an emergency department once and casually announce he has split his scrotum. Landed heavily and popped it in the last quarter, finished the quarter, walked off the ground and got in his car in full kit, drove to hospital and walked in with blood running down both legs.

Still makes me churn 25 years later.
Is that a new feature on here or was I asleep sometime ago?

I'm getting the visual Large Son Of Bull  seen it a couple times too many myself anogst other unforgettable injuries and exploits .......

I don’t pay a lot of attention to their drivel. Mostly they talk to hear themselves speak.

"I think there's something wrong with Mahanama, Rod."
"I dunno, Bill. Seems a pretty appropriate place for it to me."

Definitely a job for the scrotometer.

Don't they wear ball guards anymore?
Apparently he wasn't wearing one in the nets yesterday when they were doing throw downs for batting practice. Obviously hadn't quite done a proper job on him so Starkers gave them another tweak.
