Re: Cricket

I'm glad my young bloke got to get out there on the ground for Milo Have-a-Go today. He would have been shattered if it was scheduled for tomorrow.

Not looking too good. I thought we were going to amass a decent score, roll the Poms and chase a small target.  Now, batting last on a pitch that's seen 15 wickets fall in less than 4 sessions it looks very ominous.

I'm so wrong now it's not funny.

Re: Cricket

The aussies wrapping the game up in three days - amazing. The poms are in disarray and warnie gets man of the match at the G. Great way to end the year for the boys and now we can hopefully look forward to a 5-0 whitewash of the ashes series. Bloody great stuff by the lads.

Re: Cricket

Another down. :-\
Justin Langer has announced his retirement as well.
He will play his last test in Sydney.

Re: Cricket

Martyn, Warne, Mcgrath and now Langer--with Hayden and Gilchrist probably 12 months away---the times are a changing. A good time to to be a young up and comer and present yourself to selectors-lots of doors now ajar.

As for the poms-never give a sucker an even break-but we had planned to get into day 4-so missed out on the boxing day test for the first time in memory!

And I still dont get why you would go to the trouble of buying a ticket and not showing up-as 5-10000 chose to on day 3

Re: Cricket

Well done to JL for a great career, one of my favourites for several reasons. I tipped him to mates (Gillespie was my other big prdeiction, along with duds like Alley, Howard, Corbett) before he played a test as a player to follow after his 100 (or at least big score) in 1991/92 Shield final. Also love him for the fact he plays for the love of the game , mateship and the baggy green.

Well done JL I think he has called it at the right time as there is nothing left to achieve and I think he would have got the tap on the shoulder if he decided to play on, he has called at the right time on his own terms.

I thought Gilly may have gone as well before the tests started but think he will play for 12mths longer as with Haydos who will help new opener before we have a complete new opening pair.

Good luck to Warnie, Pidge and JL, hope we win 5-0 for you.

Re: Cricket

I would say England won today as they only lost 4 wickets, but if the trent continues they will be all out for about 300, but im tipping a score of 350-375. Then Warney will make 100 (i wish).

Re: Cricket

Yeah, let Warne & Langer open, followed by McGrath at three! :hihi

And Langer needs to roll the arm over sometime during the match 8)

Re: Cricket

Panesar in at number 7 with 12 overs to go. Nightwatchman? Who's he protecting?
Surely the poms are kidding.

Or have they just shuffled the order of the tail?

Wasn't this the same bloke Ashley Giles kept out supposedly because Giles was a better bat?

I must say that England have been disgraceful all summer.

The lot of 'em.....

Re: Cricket

England all out for 147, losing 5/33 in a little over an hour today (13 overs). England, you lot are a pathetic bunch of pretenders. I took a week off work to watch the Boxing Day test, you shortchanged me and made me waste 2 days of my annual leave. I was looking forward to watching SOME of the Sydney test on saturday, because I couldn't get more time off work. Barring some miracle or rain delay, that isn't going to happen either.
I hope you all have the decency to hand back the awards your queen gave you, they obviously weighed you all down ;D. How the hell you lot are ranked number 2 in the world mystifies me.

It gets better. They are ranked only above Bangladesh,Zimbabwe and Kenya in the one day form of the game. Hopefully the Kiwis can help save the upcoming One Day Series from becoming a total joke.

Re: Cricket

We won

Kiwis will be understrength with K Mills, Styris and Jacob Oram not fit. So sadly dont think the one day series will be too exciting.
