That was superb.

As good as it gets.  What an awesome effort by our team.  Nothing like sticking it up the Poms.  ;D

What a kick in the backside for Freddy Flintstone* that he has a player with a double century and one with a massive wicket haul and his opposing captain gets man of the match.

Onya Riccardo. :clap  Onya Aussies. :clap

*I guess he gets some reward by making the record books for the highest declaration in a first innings to lose the game. At least they'll go home with something for their trophy cabinet. :rofl

My Aussie Team for the next Test:

1. Langer
2. Hayden
3. Ponting (capt)
4. Hussey (v-c)
5. M.Clarke
6. Gilchrist (wk'ing all-rounder)
7. Lee (1st change all-rounder)
8. Warne
9. S.Clark (new ball)
10. McGrath (new ball)
11. McGill
12: Tait/Johnston

Dunno bout Macgil, i think Sydney test will be his last as he has announced he will no longer take part in the Ford Ranger Cup (ODI domestic tornament). I would have Watson in for Martyn if hes fit

Re: Cricket

:clap :clap Great result punting wise and that is all that matters. Layed the draw at evens after day 2 and thought I'd done my dough. Then had $50 on the Aussies at $14 during day 4. Unfortuneatly layed a a bit back today at $5.00 when the pommies started to get the wobbles but a free bet with a great result so can't complain.

A rare punting win. Now I'll just join the chorus and say dump Martyn.

Re: Cricket

must admit was a great win for australia, 2 very poor decisions didnt go our way though, especially strauss. happens all the time.warne bowled great but should get a fine off referee for over appealing and sooking.

have to blame fletche ri think, we were too negative from start. i have never seen flintoff off 24 balls and collingwood at one stage 8 off 60

Cant' see this team taking the field there Phanto,. There's no way inh hell we can go in with a team with Gilchrist, Lee, Warne, Clark, McGrath and Mcgill batting from 6 - 11. Whilst Gilly hit a fine 64 it was on a plumb track with 350 already on the board. He has been woefuly out of form and it's too big a risk to make him the no. 6 bat.
Lee too is a good tailend batsman but he his not an all rounder and not good enough to bat at 7. This is potentially a massive tail. Stick to what we've got except for Martyn out and Hodgey in! Hayden will be on thin ice as well. Jacquesy is just waiting!

Re: Cricket

That was one of the greatest test victories I've ever seen.
I love Huss! Another not out! Keeps piling on that average!

Here's hoping that the Melbourne test isn't a dead rubber, though.

Brad Hodge you are having a laugh. :hihi

What are you putting in the water down there?

Hodge is gone, not up to test standard!

Bring in young players!

Re: Cricket

I've watched the Highlights of yesterdays game twice on foxsports 2 and still cant believe that warne ball to pietison yesterday. Just one of those games that if you were watching it, you'll keep in the memory bank as a corker of a result. Great stuff aussies...... :clap

Watson in would give you 4 medium/fast bowlers & only 1 spinner. McGill would give you a more varied 3/2 combination. McGill is still the 2nd best spin bowler in Australia. Watson is half fit, anyway.

Perth has already shown itself to be flat dead wicket this season. There has already been a heap of runs made on it. This team, under these dry conditiond doesn't require a 6th specialist batsman, but it will need an extra bowler if it is to consistantly take 20 wickets per test.

Lee was 43* in his only innings in Brisbane, and got left "high & dry" on 7* in his Adelaide innings. He clearly deserves a promotion up the order.

Depends if you want to win 5-0.
Yes, Hayden is coming towards the end. Jacques must keep scoring centuries.

Re: Cricket

Phantom what about Cam White can bat is a top fieldsman and is becoming a good leg spinner instead of Mcgill . Most are thinking of Watson when it comes to an all rounder but what about a spinning allrounder ..

Re: Cricket

Who said Warne was gone, one poor innings and he is written off, never write off a champion.

Would like to see Gilly bat at 6 Phantom but they have only ever done it once in West Indies with Bichel at 7, doubt they will try that again especially as Gilly is averaging 25 in last 18 months.

If White was an off spinner he would playing at no 6. I just think they may stick with Martyn in team as Watson still injured but like everyone I think he should be out.

It would be great to have a draw and then bury them in Melbourne but I wouldn't mind seeing a 5-0 whitewash just the same.  Maybe we'll settle for 4 wins and a Perth draw just for our benefit hey Curtis. ;D

Here Here JB well done, was a top little test punting wise for Leysy as well after a small loss on the 1st.

Had $150 on the draw at $4.00 after england won the toss on a flat pitch, layed it all off @ $1.30 during day 3.

Then thought england would bat conservatively in the 1st session yesterday so layed more than 70 runs in the 1st sesh @ $1.30 to win $200.
turned out it was easy easy $$$$$$$

also bought Petersen's runs on the spreads for the test @ 85 for 2 pounds per run, also bought warnie's wockets which turned out to be a small loss....

Have got good seats for the whole of the boxing day test, so a small part of me wants the series to be undecided until then....... :-\

That'd be ideal. Keeping the 4th Test important without letting have any sort of victory. It should be the type of draw where Clark and McrGrath bat out a day to save the match, each making only 30 runs. ;D

Isn't Canada lead by some Aussie guy? One who can actually play and holds a record or two in one day batting?

Go Netherlands!

Jon Davidson former off spinner for NSW/VIC/SA opened the batting at last world cup and got 100 against West Indies which i think is fastest 100 in world cup.

Dutch are going ok, Canada tail did not wag going from 3/76 to 103.

Hmmm...103. That might be a good total in this match. :-\
