I know what was announced and I am not defending that. It just shows how out of touch and poorly informed our politicians and many in the bureaucracy are. people who write this stuff in the premiers office often don't understand public health and the way it is funded and run.As reported today on those social media posts.
Video exposes Dan Andrews’ ICU beds promise
Last April, the Andrews government made a welcome announcement, revealing Victoria would benefit from a “massive $1.3 billion injection to quickly establish an extra 4000 ICU beds”.www.news.com.au
We can rabbit on about the politics all we like but we were never getting 4000 ICU beds. Maybe the 4000 could have been 4000 beds in total, I am not sure but that would be possible because the funding included money for general wards that could handle COVID patients who didn't need ICU but needed isolation and specialised nursing.
If I had $100 for every time I have seen a press release about public health in this state that is not 100% factually correct I would be living in a villa in the Bahamas and that goes back to when doofus Davis was Health Minister, although he was better than Mikakos.
