I agree.I’ve been responsible for safety of teams in petrochemical plants. This kind of blasé attitude to following rules is the root cause of significant process safety events.
Not if the rule is that masks are to be worn inside only, the rule is clearly communicated and supervision regarding compliance provided. Information on the risk should be clearly outlined which would in line likely see more buy in from staff as they could see the reasoning behind the control. I doubt many tradies see the benefits of wearing a mask when working outside in their own area.E.g. The person who is all by themselves and doesn’t wear a mask will go inside and forget to put it back on and then get or spread to someone else who happened to be there.
Again l agree, I believe that the rule is flawed.E.g. The leader of the crew who doesn’t wear a mask is observed by the first year apprentice who decides if it’s ok for the boss to not follow the rules then it mustn’t be a big deal to not wear a mask anywhere.
Especially In the space of safety If a rule is crap we should get the rule changed - not undermine all rule following. Lots of *smile* rules aren’t good so I do have empathy that this could be a bad rule - but with that said it’s a simple rule and easy to see if it’s being followed or not.
Of course it’s possible, it all depends on a risk assessment and additional controls that may need to be implemented (such as additional breaks), I’m talking about the way the directions are written in relation to face coverings. If your argument is against them then fair enough.Like wearing a seat belt or putting on hearing protection you don’t need those things all the time but when you do it may be too late if you aren’t already wearing it.
it’s almost counter intuitive in a workplace to put PPE ON when you go inside - normally you take it OFF. Seems masks are the other way around so another small factor to keep them on.
separately it’s *smile* to say you can’t wear a mask in hot and enclosed spaces and when you are doing physical work. If there are particulates or toxins in the air it is common to wear particulate filter masks or even breathing gear. You may need to restrict hours and have more breaks depending on the conditions to keep it safe if it is truly hot and humid to prevent heat exhaustion - but it can be done.
Risk of Covid transmission outdoors is negligible/next to zero unless you’re kissing or yelling into someone’s face, people losing their minds over the construction crews not wearing their masks correctly need to settle down
Interesting development in NY city on mandated vaccines. Health staff took action against govt.
will be interesting how this pans out there
Judge suspends NY state vaccine mandate for health care workers who claim religious exemption
A federal judge issued a temporary restraining order Tuesday temporarily suspending New York state from enforcing its vaccine mandate if health care workers claim a religious exemption.edition.cnn.com
on the last point your right. ( exemption to wearing mask) Supporting yr view see link below. How am l sure that virus spread is highly unlikely to occur outdoors (though not impossible in fairness)? Well that’s what the experts have been saying, and yes though delta may have a slightly higher risk it is still very low. has the government released figures about the amount of transmission that is likely to have occurred outdoors ?
You ask how hard it is to wear a mask properly. Depends on what you’re doing and how hot it is. Btw wearing a mask when doing physically demanding work is not mandated as it would be a safety risk (of course construction work wouldn’t involve that a lot of the time, just saying).
if someone is working in open space without anyone else in their immediate vicinity breathing on them there is no need for them to wear a mask and people shouldn’t get their knickers in a knot over it
Im religious but dont get it tbh DS. Within the article there are points raised....
Ok, I'm not religious, but can someone explain to me the religiousexcuseexemption to vaccines?

Guessing its about changing the blood within their body from how they were born. Best i can say that i understood
Edit: i had heard here that certain religious groups had been seeking from the top religious figures if it will be okay to get vax. But dont fully understand on the ramifications if their blood is altered and impact to their beliefs
Edit 2: back your view on lack of construction workers non complaince of masks. (Same post u put)Seen first hand issue. Not just those big sites in city. In suburbs. They think they are above rules. Go off site & into coffee / food shops and many still dont comply.
Confusing post. I was solely talking about compliance regarding mask wearing outdoors and acknowledged that the indoor lunch room environment is an actual problem. I suggest you read things properly before criticising people and and calling their posts out as ‘irrelevant’.So, you are just ignoring the fact that the compliance was woeful in their tea rooms which are indoors and chockers. Might want to check your facts before posting irrelevancies.

The JW reasoning if of course absolute rubbish but rigidly believed and so no point whatsoever in discussion. This sounds like Jehovah's witness *smile*. In that case why should there be exemptions.
I expect things to escalate today unfortunately.Big test for Dan. Can't have dissidents running the show given the phase we're about to enter.

I'm not a unionist; never have been never will be. They have their place (as long as they don't abuse their power) and are important for worker protection but personally not something I've ever been involved in.Loved the ANMF response, real unionists, the sort of people who are all for one and one for all. It's called solidarity you morons, we get vaccinated because we care about others than just ourselves.

Who are the messengers?1. This. Unions need to make a very strong statement reiterating what solidarity means
2. dont shoot the messengers. This is Howards Australia. The little *smile* would be drinking champagne.
