Coronavirus

The whole point of the advice for social distancing and washing hands is to give the country time to ramp up health respond to the coming peak wave of positive result and chronic sufferers.

If we just let this go or do Herd Immunity the current health set up will be overwhelmed and not only will the death rate from COVID 19 soar so will the death rate of other illness rise because those people will not be able to access the medical support.

COVID 19 moves fast. The dinner party of 12 where one was the carrier and by the end of the night most of the other tested positive gives a scary insight to the speed. So slow it down so we have time.

Benjamin Franklin said it best: “Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety”.
You think that quote is applicable? You neither understand what it means nor how to apply it.

This social distancing is at flashpoint with society. How many stages do we have to go through? The media just now keeps showing people sitting outside but says nothing about a long queue at Centrelink where they're all less than 1 metre from each other. Having cops come to the door is terrible. How extreme do we all have to go? Might as well start wearing prison uniforms.

In the early 80's the cops were at the St. Kilda DSS every day.:D

Get ready for Scaremonger Scotty at 9:00pm to sh!t everyone with more extreme lockdowns. Can't believe these morons still think we're gonna reach China's and Italy's figures.....then again juggling numbers isn't hard.

That article if accurate is provides comfort to a lot of us ,

But still , I have plenty of compassion and concerns for those that fit into the risky area
Don't read articles just read the original reports, they are not hard to find.

Italian Report on COVID positive deaths. (In English)

Chinese COVID Epidemiology to 11 Feb, in english

Japan Final Field Briefing on Diamond Princess before passengers released. In English

USA Release on Sever COVID outcomes. Also in English but harder to read. :)

We are being crept into full lock down its surely coming they are just treading us there slowly for mine. Hope I am reading it wrong but I'm feeling that we will be heading the same way as most other places.

Just as the winter months come so will the numbers of colds, flu and Covid.

Every few days they ramp up the intensity of reporting and fear mongering.

Don't panic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just get what you need in the near term, they've done it everywhere else so liely they'll do it here. They are just trying to avoid panic shopping situations.

Just roll on and stock up what you need but do it with class and do it methodically and calmly and dont be a panic buying *smile*.

If you’ve been directed by the government to self-isolate for 14 days as a risk to the community and are refusing to comply, I’m more than happy for you to be arrested. In fact I’m comfortable with you receiving a fixed term of imprisonment.

Agreed. Keeping our borders open too long and slack self isolation measures have been our biggest weakness in this whole thing.

We're now playing catch-up.

If it's only for those, OK.

I’m pretty sure it is at this stage. If it’s e.g. a group of kids hanging out together at the local shopping centre, I’m sure they’ll just be encouraged to move on and disperse.

The government really needs this to be self-regulating as much as possible. They don’t want to be fighting their own citizens.
