Coronavirus

This is where we need federal ownership of the goal for Australia.

just as choosing not to get vaccinated impacts everyone.

one state not choosing to go for zeros effects all of Australia. NSW choosing to live with it is NSW choosing for Australia to live with it

I think it was just a verbal brainfart from Hazard. there is no way NSW will "choose to live with it." It will destroy their economy due to borders being permanently closed and there will be a mass exodus to other states for those who are able to move.

i checked the calender to make sure it wasnt April 1 when i saw this on the news.

total cognitive dissonance.

WTF is happening?

oh, yeah thats right, we have THE shittest 'leader' weve ever had as a Nation.

and *smile* leadership produces baffling *smile* outcomes every time

The words "GOLD STANDARD " seem a little empty now.

hazard cant even be a bumbling idiot properly

some of the populist rhetoric through this pandemic has been a disgrace and exposed our federation as a joke.

mcgowan's response yesterday had the intellectual rigour and statesmanship of a kinder kid.

Scott Morronson now saying get your second jab after 8 weeks not 12. This will reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine from 85 -- 90% down to about 65%, it may also mean another booster shot will be needed.

Does this fool ever think before he opens his mouth.

Hardly a fool at all. His Government is being slammed locally, and laughed at internationally, for the covid vaccination rollout in Australia. The best way to stop that happening is to get the percentage of Australians with 2 vaccine shots higher..

He's not a fool, he knows what he is doing and why he's doing it.

so 44 in NSW. 29 in the community.

NSW still telling people to stay home, but not properly enforcing it.

So your view is it is fine for children to catch covid and die ?
Even though it is preventable...like polio, whooping cough, measles, small pox etc.
Would you be happy to have your child die from any of the above?
Children regularly died from all of the above illnesses in the thousands. It is unacceptable and disgracefully inhumane to let children and for that matter, anyone, die from an entirely preventable illness.
It is incomprehensible that you could think otherwise.
I simply cannot comprehend where the rigid resistance comes from.
Covid is a virus like many before it that is dangerous and easily managed with simple vaccination.
Why anyone would resist the wonderful benefits of modern science is just illogical...but then that's what I have been saying about the human race.
MD Jazz is a cold cold person who doesnt care if kids die. Probably supports koalas being killed as well. :)

But yes kids are the probably innocent victims caught in lockdowns that may well have a more negative effect than the disease they are being protected from. But exempting kids from the lockdowns will greatly reduce the impact of the lockdowns causing them to go on much longer than otherwise may be necessary.

close contacts have gone from 7,000 to 14,000 in 1 day.

i'm sorry to say, but they will be hitting triple figures by next week.

Time for Victoria to close the border with all of NSW.

Gladys: "we do not have the luxury of living with this virus." Obviously a planned statement.

Gladys didn’t do a lockdown, it was a “stay at home order” with no restrictions on travelling to different suburbs, Bunnings, ikea etc open, and dozens of reasons to be out of the house.

NSW twice as good as Vic. They now have a 10km exercise rule. Karen will have 4 times the area to walk in.

clearly sitting in VIc most people will see these measures as coming in way way too late. It’s going to be a very expensive mistake for Australia as job keeper restarts etc. and businesses and people suffer longer than needed.

Hindsight is easy and we don’t know how the decisions got made but feel is politics ruled over logic as the delta transmissibility must (or should have) been known from experiences in Victoria and rest of the world and so any modelling should have been changed to reflect that.

did people hear some of the businesses mentioned as "places of concern?" I don’t recall all of them, but Chant definitely mentioned Ikea and Kmart... 2 places that should definitely be closed.

I wonder how many “Dictator Dan” types that were critical of Victoria’s response last year are now starting to realise we got it right? Or are they too stubborn to admit it?

As someone on the Central Coast, she left it longer than 48 hours to close, was more like a week to late, when a 3 day lockdown would have likely gotten the job done.

And yet here we are...

The way I understand it, is they give a number who were in isolation, ie. they are not allowed to leave the house for ANY reason, hence these are usually primary and secondary contacts.

I think "in the community" are those that are on stay at home orders but still allowed to leave the house for groceries etc, but it does seem that the businesses open in NSW are more liberal than what was allowed in VIC.

So if my understanding is right, 29 of those who have tested positive WERE NOT regarded as primary or secondary contacts and hence under orders to isolate. Suggests that contact tracing is a fair way behind in controlling those primary / secondary contacts, and this will only get worse as more transmission occurs and more exposure sites are added. Its an exponential growth trend rather than lineal so gets harder the more cases you have.

Ikea ..... should definitely be closed.

storing a stand up paddle board in ones home office without access to telescopic silicon storage solutions (that's the Nörfke in the catalogue, if you wish to purchase, comes in the complete range of primary colours)

is clearly a violation of the charter of human rights.

Facist!

correct. in addition to that, it also tells us that the "stay at home orders" is not doing the job its supposed to do. If they had a Melbourne style lockdown, every single case would have been in isolation during their infectious period after 14 days had passed. But if you look at Sydney’s numbers, they have been in “lockdown” for 2 weeks now, yet the case numbers are going up. Its almost as if these 2 weeks have been a total waste.
