Coronavirus

Wow, this is complete *smile*.

If we had invested in two international vaccines, Pfizer and Novax, we would currently have supplies of these vaccines and would be happily vaccinating our population and planning to open our borders.

Yes, it would have been a good decision to invest in 4 vaccines - the 2 that could be made here and the 2 which could be ordered from overseas.

The problem with the statement above is that it is a lie. We did not invest in Pfizer and Novax. If we had done so, we would not be waiting for them now.

We really need to stop listening to the AMA so much. It is essentially the doctors Trade Union of which only about 15% of them are actually members.
They get quoted all the time because it’s easy for the journos. Much better getting the views of the real experts such as epidemiologists, infectious diseases physicians etc.

You're deluded if you think they're going to open the doors at 50%.

Mid-2022. What part of it don't you understand?

I didn’t say we would. I said that when the government announces what level of vaccination is required for the doors to be open again we would be better off if we had a 50% vaccination rate than something much less because stragglers like you don’t get vaccinated.
It’s going to be more like 80-90%

It was interesting to go back to the start of this thread. It gives a good account of the spread of the virus. It wasn't until the Ruby Princess *smile* that many believed Australia could be heavily impacted.

If it was just a few stragglers there wouldn't be an issue. I'm happy to be vaccinated, there are plenty who aren't.

It's up to the government to secure public goodwill, and give people a prod if necessary.

Anyhoo, here's some of the latest data on the vax rollout. We still aren't making up any ground on the revised target.

Not sure what happens to AZ manufacturing at CSL - I guess they stop, or they export.

Here's the vaccine rollout per 100 people by state. Of the big states, Vic is doing the best and NSW the worst.

It's all well and good to have a go at those of us who have managed to get one or both of the doses of the vaccine.

Yes, I have had the first dose, because I am over 50.

Meanwhile, the government struggles to get the vaccine to the rest of the population, like my daughter, because of a lack of supply and because they are setting up vaccination centres and not using all the doses because some won't go and get a shot.

Lack of supply is the main issue, but stragglers are also impacting on the vaccination rollout and therefore on any hope of avoiding the virus escaping and preventing more lockdowns.

I had my second A Z jab the other day & now I keep getting visions of phone towers & Telstra vans, I look in the mirror & see a strange protuberance starting to grow from my forehead.

Apart from that I've had no adverse reactions:help

As of yesterday 47% of Tassie adults have been vaccinated. I think the Federal Government and the National Cabinet. Should give all Tassie people who the CHO recommends get vaccinated the opportunity to get vaccinated as a priority so that we can hopefully push them to be 70% or higher. Then once this trigger is reached it should be all systems go on travelling to Tassie from the mainland or overseas if you have been fully vaccinated. We can learn our lessons of what happens in the opening up of the rest of the country at the end of the year or next year.

You sure it's coming out of your forehead?

1 case in Victoria (already in Iso, southbank complex).
29 cases in NSW (only 12 were already in Iso).
0 cases in Queensland.

Crisis cabinet meeting being called in NSW.

Gladys strongly hinting today that lockdown is coming, without actually saying it.

Nsw’s turn for a rush on vaccines.

29 cases and only 12 of those in isolation once detected. They're up *smile* creek without a paddle.

NSW's response to this has been so heavily politicised with the Gold standard rubbish. This has proved they have been lucky to not have a larger outbreak before now. Gladys has been happy believing her *smile* is pure white and lacks odour but it's looking more and more like a polished *smile*.
