Coronavirus

If he was the missing link then there would be Covid cases popping up all over NSW. So far thats not the case.

The finger is being pointed at those who've been granted exemption from hotel quarantine.

How the **** anyone gets granted exemption is beyond me, especially if you are coming from India.

If they are all linked, then I think we might be ok.

If they are linked, we are OK. But that still means another 7 day lockdown extension. The first delta strain case was last week? and you will need to run the lockdown 14 days from the first case of the new outbreak to ensure we have run it down.

It will be interesting to see if the PM gets an exemption after his upcoming trip to Europe.

He'll home quarantine and I'd be shocked if he doesn't do the full two weeks.

Allows him to duck any issues he doesn't like, avoid doorstep interviews, and most importantly, his personal photographer will quarantine with him so we'll get plenty of ScoMo moments to fawn over.

I think Victorian's deserve to know what the decision to extend the lockdown will be based on. Is it case numbers ? Is it exposure sites ? Is it mystery cases? Do we need a long stretch of Zero cases? They shouldn't hold anymore press conferences until they have answers. No more blaming everyone else or political point scoring just clear criteria as to what the decision to extend the lockdown will be based on.

Victoria - unlucky
All other states - lucky

are you suggesting we are not unlucky? this outbreak started in SA quarantine.

This second "delta variant" outbreak still has an unknown source. its either hotel qurantine or came from an undetected case in NSW.

Good news at least in that the new cases are all linked.

Victoria’s new cases all linked to existing outbreaks

By Hanna Mills Turbet

In good news, Victoria’s health department has just confirmed that all of today’s new cases are linked to existing outbreaks.
In a tweet just minutes ago, the department said: “Eight are existing primary close contacts who were quarantining during their infectious period.”
We will hear more details at the daily press conference, which is hopefully not too far away.

Yeah, it makes zero sense. That thinking is ignorant.

Sure we’ve had elements of bad luck but we are only just now getting our QR system up to date FFS.

Yeah can't we just release a few infected Victorians into other states just to even things up a bit?

To spend so much money by banking on lockdowns, we have to follow through. We cant just go all open season like the US and UK.

People's stupidity on the matter really perplexes me. Its like wondering why the room is cold when all your windows and doors are open even though the heater is on.

Just went to Coles Tooronga (Victoria) watched at the entrance : 17 out of 30 checked in with a QR
Lamb chops on special, avacados are a bargain

Do you still see the vaccination roll-out as low priority? This will tell the tale.
Seems at this stage that I have until at least Christmas to complete my vaccination regime. Put it this way - I wouldn't describe that as "high priority".

Wouldn't sign up right at the moment anyway while there's a stampede.

The question is about the vaccine roll-out, not what you decide to do or not to do. But you know that, you just don't want to answer.

I'll ask again, is the vaccine roll-out high priority for Australia or not?

I would suggest not.

Perhaps the government feels it is, but that message isn't coming across clearly in the media. It's only the odd opinion column that seems to be pushing it. And you wouldn't take any notice of what e.g. Andrew Bolt tells you to do, would you?

What is it, 5 in 6 Victorians haven't received their first jab? A lot of people obviously don't see it as urgent.

There's hardly a stampede.

I booked last week and it took 4 days to get an appointment in my suburb - lots of GP listings and all done through Hot Doc. All paperwork done online before appointment. Had a 10.25am appointment, turned up at 10.15, name ticked off (no other paperwork) seen at 10.20. Out of there by 10.35am. Re-appointment booked for 12 weeks for dose 2. Very simple and easy.
