Coronavirus

Pretty sure either Sutton or Foley mentioned it, that 40-49 needed to book and only with state controlled facilities to get the Pfizer.
Yeah I heard that but 1) GP’s have Pfizer stocks also, along with AZ - some of it not being used. Doesn’t make any sense for those GP’s not being able to take bookings. 2) They said the same about over 50’s and they can book through their GP online.

Obviously he talks to her and sometimes they discuss her work, given it's of topical interest.

He's had long experience in management himself and is the type that hires people over formal qualifications.

It came about after I said they seemed to know what they're doing. "Funny you say that" was the reply.

Sorry for slighting Dangerous Dan's government.

He's a latter day Sherlock Holmes. Can deconstruct a whole government department's decision-making strategy, as well as profiling the types of individuals making these decisions from a few topical conversations with the sister that he considers to be an idiot.

Have a look at those four.

A classic 'where's the manager?' on the left, then a bloke called Julian who takes pottery classes and likes to offer support to single mums, then Sharlee who is worried about all the school little Jettt and Brilaayla are missing, and just to round it out there's a person with less IQ than her cardboard sign on the end.

Someone at work was spouting on similar stuff this week.

- This has only come around because they are about to have to renew their state of emergency powers (Tell that to the fella in intensive care)
- She said that its worrying when there were 1,000 women who were pregnant who received the vaccine and 75 of them lost their babies, so thats 7.5%, yet a simple search on google says that 10-20% of pregnancies result in miscarriage, so maybe the vaccine is REDUCING miscarriages haha
- That its just a flu and no-one is dying from it
- That overseas deaths are overstated

Sounds like a similar person to Sir and Stig.

Had an interesting chat with a nurse at the local GP's today.

Some things said were...
They don't have the staff to do everything they need to do AND book in people for getting the vaccine.
They don't have the physical room for people to get the vaccine, in addition to everything else they need to carry out.
It is now time when people are getting the flu shot, and they need to wait at the GP's for 15 after getting it to make sure they are all good, which in itself causes a problem for the doctors.
Some other GPs allocate a day where all they do is give ppl vaccines, they keep it free of all other patient types, and they can get through up to 400 shots this way. There is another one nearby that does two half days (7am to around 2pm) of 200 vaccines. The nurse said while they are trying to get the vaccines out, it really stuffs around staff and all other patients.

Have to say, the things she said were points I had never really considered as being such a problem for a doctors office, but it all makes total sense. It also shows some real weaknesses in the system and how the Govts should have prepared better, through mass vaccination facilities right from the get-go, as it is causing doctors offices some real stress.

And what the *** does “This all ends when we say no” mean ?

Just say no and CV 19 will end ? Just say no and nobody will get sick, die ? Just say no and our health system won’t blow up and our economy be decimated ?

Wtf is that idiot talking about ???

Some are great. Place I went to set it up perfectly. Separate area, separate staff, separate booking and dispensing people etc. Seperate pre and post waiting areas. Took all of 3 minutes to get my first shot (ex 10 mins of compulsory sitting around after). People were coming in and out, seamlessly.

I asked the girls running it how they were going and they said it was a breeze. Only issue they had was insufficient supplies.

They’re doing 150 or so a day now, each and every day, 7 days a week, just as a GP. It can be done.

Rumour (not the strongest source, but has been right before)
But anyway said...a covid case just come up in NSW.
Hopefully they are full it.

Last time this happened, I kept getting confused because the daily stats (new cases + existing cases) would never match up with what had been previously reported, so I kept my own spreadsheet.

On the 25th of June last year, there were 33 new daily cases (according to my records). The 7 day average was 19.

When stage 3 was re-introduced on the 9th of July, the 7 day average was about 105. 14 days later, masks were introduced. The 7 day average was around 322. After that, on the 6th of August (stage 4), the 7 day average was 491. 14 days after Stage 4, the 7 day average was 270.

We were told that it takes 14 days to see the effect of any changes to the restrictions, and that the period between infection and symptoms could be 2 - 7 days.

This time round, cases and their contacts are probably being detected more quickly. Clearly more people are getting tested, and hopefully properly isolating, as required. Aged care and healthcare ought not to be affected as severely due to vaccines and lessons learnt.

We'll know more on Monday, however, I just can not see how 7 days of restrictions will be sufficient to return to the Government's unstated goal of zero "local" cases.

I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, 100% it can be done mate, but the doc's has to have the space to cater to people like the place you went does.

It is great they can, but most don't have that amount of room available: My GP is wedged between a Coles and a sushi shop, can seat a whole 14ish ppl in there, and that was before covid spacing!

Hopefully, those with space can run like the place that you went to.

the school i work at yes, are behind the rest of the country at each year level...its all data driven.
flogged however, no.

Im speaking wellbeing more so, a lot of kids need the weekly school counsellor.
Id say, 1 in say 6.
Woah, more than I expected. its sad to hear its still an issue as much as it is. but not truly surprised.

My nephew, last year he hated not being able to socialise. Affected him. Lucky he had 3 sisters!
But when you asked a direct question on how he felt (one on one) you I saw the mood change. Felt sad. Missed his friends. Year 8.

Wish the counsellors well in being able to deal with this.

Syd the most densely populated city in Aust so don't think pop density is the reason

Yeah, and the Australian population isn’t dense to begin with (purely in terms of population spread, that is...)

From my understanding, humidity sets Melbourne apart from the other cities. Temperature only matters insofar as it influences humidity. Melbourne’s winter stays drier at wider temperatures than other cities’ winters, so it’s easier for the virus to float around, or something like that.

Apparently this was because both the Epping and Epping North Woolies print "Epping Woolworths" on the receipts. But they should have confirmed with the people who visited those

I actually performed an almost identical task recently (not for contact tracing). It was obvious in many cases that the suburb name wasn’t enough information, so I knew I wasn’t sure of the store location. I tried Google Maps for some and that helped, but unless it had the store code somewhere, it’s an easy mistake to make.

But for tracking an early positive case in a pandemic, it’s extremely difficult to understand why they wouldn’t contact the person to clarify such important information, or at least check Google Maps before deep cleaning a randomly chosen supermarket from that suburb.

A reminder Golden Gladys’ contact team never even found the ‘patient zero’ or the ‘missing link’ a couple of times.
There’s a certain amount of luck to this once there is a hotel quarantine breech. Another reminder that this breech was imported from South Australia.
Right now we’ve had very bad luck unfortunately.
