I'm a bit sus on the mask advice in Australia. Logic and common sense suggests they surely prevent an infected person from spreading the virus via coughing etc. especially when they don't know they have the virus?
I'd heard that a few weeks ago Vic hospitals were very worried they were going to run out of PPE. Perhaps the "no masks required" line from the government was a calculated risk to prevent panic buying, meaning hospitals and medicos would have gone without. The manufacturers would have been tempted to sell them at the highest cost possible, a cost the hospitals couldn't afford.
Agree, I bought a pack of 10 KN95 masks which cost me $40 bucks i am sure pre Covid they would have been cheaper.
Will come in handy when i visit my 86 year old mum in her retirement village, can't do any harm and it will give me some comfort that I am protecting her.
