Coronavirus

Went and got a test today after where I get a haircut got a case. Got there at 7 out by 8.45.

Zero symptoms besides Xmas fatigue and a runny nose that I attribute to hay fever.
Tested positive…. To a delightful fade haircut. Negative to the Vid. Results in exactly 48 hrs.

Pretty concerning VIC presser. Seems they're preparing for a shitstorm coming.. just to keep society functioning. The language & mood has changed.

Just 11% of Victorians over 18 have had a 3rd shot.

I’m not concerned by this, we got double vaxed and that was our ticket out. The third shot IMO wont change things dramatically, I’m booked for next month. Feels like now it’s about masks and taking extra care while learning and not copying NSW. At some stage it has to run it’s course, we are trying to minimise the damage. It’s bloody hard but I don‘t think there is any other way.

what does this important announcement from Morrison actually mean?

Further to National Cabinet on 30 December 2021, and following further consultation with the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Health Officers, leaders have also agreed to remove the requirement for a Day 6 RAT for confirmed cases in isolation.

If confirmed cases remain symptomatic, they should remain in isolation. Anyone with symptoms will continue to seek a PCR test.

I think even Dan Andrews has had enough. Unfortunately the only way out is letting the dam wall break.

Maybe it means that with the outcry for the Gov't to make RAT tests free they are reducing the need and their expense to have one. Maybe they haven't got enough RAT tests to go around? A QLD company had to source an international market for their product as Australian Gov't not interested at the time and now scrambling for stock.

My wife and I have just canceled a SE QLD trip to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast planned for late January. Will wait it out until later in the year and observe. Perhaps aim for October.

QLD now declared high risk by Tasmanian authorities (although that will become a meaningless category as the virus spreads throughout every jurisdiction). So what it means. We can’t get back to TAS until we have all returned negative test. If just one of us returns a positive we potentially have to find a place in QLD to isolate for weeks until it's gone through all of us and we all test negative. And that’s if you can get hold of a rapid test kit.

If it was just the wife and I, I’d risk it. But with two little kids in tow, it would just be ugly if we get caught up in it all. Just not a relaxing holiday, having all the possibilities in the back of one’s mind. Defeats the purpose of being on holiday. Plus by later in the year both kids will be fully vaccinated. They get their first in mid January.

Have been visiting this site (below) recently for a COVID chuckle.
(I only check in here occasionally so you PREnders might be all over it anyway)

Anyway this story is pretty typical of some of the nut jobs in the good old USA

And by coincidence the Reddit poster shares an illustrious name with one of our own

Two things have changed, Omicron and Vaccination.

There is no way we could have let it rip when we had low vaccination rates and a dominant Delta strain, many thousands would have died.

I think opening up is the right thing to do but judicious opening up. We all have different opinions about what judicious means.

My understanding is that it is not a once done then i am protected virus but one that you have the ability to catch numerous times, particularly different strains. Why would anyone want to deliberately infect themselves? Darwinism at its best!
Well that would go without saying one would have thought. Pretty self evident. It’s consistent with a any other half related illness, such as the various strains of the flu, cold etc. How some idiots can’t put that basic two and two together shows you the total lack of critical thought.

Well it is the New Year so I am going to dine out on this positive article until it proves otherwise:
